Discover the heart of Santo Antão on this immersive hike through one of the island’s most fertile and authentic valleys.
After meeting at Veleiro for a short briefing and enjoying the fresh Atlantic breeze, you’ll be transferred to Cabo de Ribeira, a small rural village spread across lush farmland beneath the impressive Cova Crater.
Your hike starts here, passing fields of sugar cane, coffee plants and local crops such as tomatoes, cabbage and paprika. The trail leads up to Pico António, where you’ll visit a local family, relax and enjoy a cup of locally grown coffee while taking in breathtaking views over the valley.
Afterwards, you’ll hike down to the village for a traditional homemade lunch with a family living in the valley.
To finish, you’ll visit a local distillery to learn about the production of grogue (local rum) and molasses, enjoy a tasting and have the opportunity to buy local products and souvenirs.
A perfect mix of nature, culture and authentic local life.
