A majestic fortress that dominates a hilltop opposite Navarino Old Fortress, Pylos Castle is also known as Pilos Niokastro, Pylos Neo Kastro, Pylos New Castle, Niokastro Fortress, and the New Navarino Fortress. Whatever you call it, it’s one of Greece’s best-preserved fortresses, built by the Ottomans in 1573 using imported design talent.
