Souq Waqif Tours and Tickets

Full on learning curve, Amin our guide did exactly that led us through an amazing/entertaining journey.

This was an amazing experience. Our tour guide Javid was so attentive and answered all of our questions about the culture and history as well. We had a very delicious local meal where we ate family Style. This is a beautiful experience that I will remember the rest of my life. If you’re in Doha, I highly reccomend this tour.

Greeting from the host was amazing, Hassan already build a good atmosphere in between the others travellers. Whom also were so excited. The guide made sure he tell brief us before the every place he showed us and made us entertained all the way. It was one of the best tour with lots of genuine interactions.

This is NOT a food tour! The title of this tour is a bit misleading. This is a tour of the souq and Qatar culture, with a traditional meal at the end. We thought it was food tour, and we visited during Ramadan and were very jet lagged - the tour wouldn’t begin until 6pm, and we wouldn’t have dinner after 8pm, which wouldn’t do for us adjusting to the time zone. So we asked the tour operator if we could do a boat tour instead, which they were able to arrange for us. We did that late afternoon and that was fun, and our guide J was good. Just beware that this is not a food tour; it would be better if Viator changes the name of this tour so it would be more accurate.

My husband and I had the Doha City Tour with Bilal. We saw all the top sites in Doha, learned about the city, its history, and the culture. We saw some things we hadn’t seen on other tours. For example, in addition to the normal shops in every market, the Souq Waquif had a bird market, a falcon market, and the king’s horses and camels. We were especially surprised by the falcons. The Souq even had a falcon hospital. Bilal did a great job of showing us the different areas of Doha, each area nicer than the last. It is a beautiful city.

We had a wonderful private tour of Souq Waqif with Javid, and it was the perfect introduction to Doha. The experience was seamless from start to finish, beginning with prompt pickup from our hotel and a warm welcome that immediately set the tone for the afternoon. The highlight, of course, was exploring Souq Waqif itself. Javid brought the market to life with his deep knowledge of Qatari culture, history, and daily life. Rather than just walking us through the main corridors, he took the time to explain the significance of the architecture, the spices, the falcon shops, the textiles, and the subtle details you might otherwise miss. His pacing was perfect — unhurried but efficient — giving us time to browse, take photos, and soak in the atmosphere. We especially appreciated the stop at the Souq Waqif Art Center. Javid pointed out elements of Islamic Qatari architecture and explained how the space supports local artists. It added an extra cultural layer to the visit that we wouldn’t have understood on our own. He was quick to point out great photo places and take the photos for us. What truly made the tour stand out was Javid himself. He was personable, professional, and genuinely passionate about sharing Doha with visitors. He answered every question thoughtfully and tailored the experience to our interests. It felt less like a scripted tour and more like exploring the city with a knowledgeable local friend. The drop-off back at our hotel was just as smooth as the pickup. If you’re looking for an insightful, comfortable, and culturally rich introduction to Souq Waqif, we highly recommend booking a private tour with Javid.

Our guide Saloo was excellent, spike English clearly and was patient to explain so much to us about the Qatar culture.
