Nice pace tour. Momo our tour guide did great job of engaging the group with questions and fun quizzes as we learned about the history. Enjoyed Momo using pictures to explain things. Took time for photos of family at iconic spots . Gave free time to roam as well.

Gentle walk through the samurai district then on the the gardens and castle. About 3 hours overall. Stopped for a matcha tea and sweet (Y500 each) on the way. Gardens were free to over 65’s with proof. Samurai house (Y550) takes cash only, no cards. Tour guide, Mako, was great. Very clear with interesting observations.

Great tour with plenty of Samurai History and time spent exploring Castle grounds and nearby gardens

A GREAT tour filled with Samurai History, a look and tour of a samurai house, beautiful castle grounds and beautiful gardens. Ilia was a great guide that answered most of my husbands questions (he asks more questions than your normal tourist as he is a huge history buff!) We were the only 2 on the tour so it ended up being a private tour and we were able to spend additional time at places. Ilia went above and beyond sharing his knowledge with us!

Our guide, ILLIA, was terrific. He was very knowledgeable, his English was excellent and he explained all the history clearly and in an interesting way. We saw the samurai area, a samurai noble’s house, the Kenrokuen gardens (beautiful!) and more. Definitely recommend.

It is a pleasant walk, but the castle and gardens are at the top of a substantial hill. Not for everyone. Difficult for wheelchairs and strollers.

Eveything about this tour is … Amazing! Rosa is such a pro, loved the vibe she’s has with us all group of eight. Gave us a very comprehensible way of how the samurai regime, kenrouko garden and kanazawa history was. Explained how the words was translated of the meaning and how it relates. This tour was very informative as well as fun! We started in the Samurai district then moved to Kanazawa Castle and the beautiful Kenrokuen Garden. Our guide Rosa was delightful. She also was very knowledgeable about Japanese history and was able to describe the important architectural features of the period as she led us thru the Nomura Samurai House and Maeda Castle grounds. We would have missed the significant details without her guidance. Why do Samurai have two lengths of swords? Why does the castle even exist? Where do you find the turtle and crane and what six things make a perfect garden? The length of tour was perfect! One of our best tours ever!!!
