Exploring beautiful old villages outside Kanazawa.
Despite the wind and rain we loved this experience with Liam as a great guide. The wood carvers village was probably our favourite - fascinating and peaceful. Watching skilled carvers at work was amazing. The Gokayama village areas were very old and very intriguing and it was fun making our own piece of washi paper. Shirakawa-go was bigger and definitely more touristy but fascinating to find out about the history of silk making and how the houses were set up to facilitate this. Thanks for a great day exploring, Liam

Loic was great! Started...
Loic was great! Started the day at Omicho Market a bustling seafood market. Then wandered the historic streets of Higashi Chaya District and then up to the Kanazawa Castle. Strolled through the stunning Kenrokuen Garden which was pure serenity 🌿—easily one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens. Wrapped up the day exploring the preserved samurai homes in Nagamachi Samurai District and soaking in all that history.

Unforgettable Kanazawa with Jorge
We were able to see so many different sites and Jorge was knowedgeable about each of them. He took us to places we would have never been able to see on our own. Excellent communicator, sensitive to our needs and fully customized for us. Searched out great food options. He was one of the best guides we have ever had over the years.

There were 3 of us. I am...
There were 3 of us. I am a baby boomer and my 2 sons are Gen Z. Our guide Yuta was exceptional or as my sons’ would say Yuta is “the GOAT” (greatest of all time)! Not only was he well-versed in Japanese history, but he could converse about any topic that my sons’ or I brought up. Yuta has a wonderful personality. We enjoyed our time with him. This tour was recommended by a friend and it was an excellent recommendation. Yuta was patient and kind. We went to a wonderful ramen restaurant the he suggested and a great sushi place as well. Thanks Yuta!

Amazing!
We had the most perfect day. The trip was very well organised and our guide Koruda was excellent, telling us many interesting facts along the way and cracking a few jokes too. The amount of time in both places was sufficient and the weather could not have been better with fresh snow overnight and continual light dry snow while we were walking around. The lunch was excellent with local hida beef, fish and several other small dishes. Would not hesitate to recommend this day trip.

Shirakawa-go
Shirakawa-go was amazing - loved the traditional houses with their steep triangle roofs. Yasushi was guide and he was amazing. He was informative and kept everything running smoothly. Yasushi always had a smile on his face and his energy just made you smile. Going early in the morning is the way to go as it gets busy! In the afternoon we went to Kenrokuen Garden. This was our second time we visited the garden and we learnt even more history. Yasushi took us around a different path and we saw things that we didn't see the first time. To top off the day we made a gold leaf postcard. What a way to finish the day.... oh wait have the gold leaf ice-cream as well - it's delicious! Highly recommend this tour plus Yasushi - thankyou!

A modest tour that exceeded my expectation!
The perfect 'style' for us! The group bus was comfortable and quiet, the group itself attentive and always on time. The guides were clear, pleasant, and gave very helpful information on the way to the two sites. Once at the location, we were on our *own* rather than walking around in a big group, which was very much appreciated. A true highlight of the day was a Japanese set lunch, which exceeded any expectation I might have had. Delicious, waiting for us, and done with lovely, serene style. I could not have been happier with our day, our two tour guides (Japanese/English) and the entire experience. Thank you!

Great day in Kanazawa!
Kayo was an awesome guide. We met her at the Kanazawa train station and took a bus to the Samarai district. We got to go in an upper Samarai’s house that was beautiful. We walked through the castle area over to the Kenrokuen Garden. It was spectacular! Last we made a quick stop in the Geisha district. We fit in a lot as Kayo was a perfect guide. Since this was a day trip for us, we arrived to Kanazawa early and walked through the Omicho Market on our own. Overall, it was a wonderful day!

1/2 Day in Shirakawa-go
Yasushi was our wonderful guide with Aiko assisting him. He entertained and informed us on our drive to Shirakawa-go and gave us plenty of free time while there to explore on our own. It was great to go in early morning when there were less visitors. We thoroughly enjoyed our 1/2 day trip and would highly recommend it.
