We’ll explore the impact of the Picts on this majestic landscape. Known as ‘Picti’ by the Romans, meaning ‘Painted Ones’ in Latin, these northern tribes constituted the largest kingdom in Dark Age Scotland. 13th century Fortrose Cathedral with a brief stop at Chanonry Point to see if we can spot any dolphins. Then on to Groam House Museum to learn about their collection of carved Pictish stones from the 8th century AD. On to Cromarty. Our guide was Lawrence....

Our guide was Lawrence. He was very friendly and kept telling us stories about the different villages we drove through. We never got bored during the whole day trip. He stopped at the best spots giving us plenty of time to visit. We had plenty of time to visit Dunrobin castle and its gardens and even watch the falconry show. He also made several stops along the way for going to the toilets or buying souvenirs and food, for eating, and of course to walk around and take pictures. Besides the beautiful viewpoints, we saw and could take plenty of pictures of wild animals, like hares, highland cows, sheep, deer, seals, and luckily a few puffins. Everybody in our group of five said the day trip was excellent!

Best tour!

This was an absolutely incredible experience! Our tour guide, Martin, was wonderful. He did an excellent job of blending history with lore and making sure we knew enough to appreciate and respect each excursion site. The one piece of advice I have— bring proper footwear and a good rain coat because there is a LOT of walking. But it is well worth it!

Great day on Loch Ness

Our tour guide Neil was great. He took us to a few out of the way spots around Loch Ness like Dores and a couple really old bridges. Then we had lunch in fort Agustus and walked around the locks (locks, not Lochs). We went up the other side of Loch Ness to Urquart Castle to see that, then get on a cruise to go the rest of the way. Definitely a must do when you're in Inverness.

It rained while we were on the boat but inside was warm and very roomy and the windows were massive. The narrator was very informed of the history of the Loch and everything around it. I would recommend this one hour cruise for anyone with a short vacation span. We only had two days in Inverness.

Excellent tour, with a thoughtful guide.

Beautiful tour of Loch Ness area, the fairy pools and castle. Our guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. He deviated a little from the itinerary due to the tour being on Sunday. Our lunch stop was at a small restaurant which our guide pre booked for us. Great choice. He also added a late stop a a small cafe on our way back from the tour. This was done so we didn't have such a long drive without a break. Very thoughtful and appreciated.
