Top Helsingør Private Sightseeing Tours

Get swept up by tales of stone and sea while taking in murals and sculptures on this self-guided audio tour through Helsingør. You’ll stroll the cobbled streets of this medieval town, from the train station along Helsingør Harbor Promenade and through the old shipyards, once the lifeblood of Helsingør, to Kronborg Castle. There, you’ll walk the seaside stone ramparts. But there’s more to this tour than just Kronborg Castle. You’ll also explore the medieval town of Helsingør, a charming tapestry of half-timbered houses and narrow streets. You’ll visit St. Mary’s Church and Priory, with its quiet cloister that’s even older than Kronborg Castle, and have the opportunity to enjoy a coffee on Axeltorv, the town square – or, in summer, a frozen treat at the 100-year-old Brostræde Ice Cream, where our tour ends. Please note: Kronborg Castle is one of the highlights of this tour, and we will tour the outside and offer tips on what to look for if you choose to pay the fee and go inside.

Welcome explorers! Come along and enjoy discovering cozy Helsingør, also known as Elsinore, its maritime history and learn about the imposing Kronborg Castle with this complete audio walking tour. Helsingørs maritime history is as deep and wide as the waters it overlooks. This is a city that has watched sailors and ships come and go like the ebb and flow of the tide. In front of the city stands the magnificent Kronborg Castle, its spires piercing the sky with authority. The castle is furthermore immortalized by Shakespeare as Elsinore, the setting for his tragic play "Hamlet". The Sound Dues, locally known as Øresundstolden, were a toll paid here to the Danish Crown. Remember you can take breaks along the way whenever you like. The tour starts and ends next to the train station in Helsingør. Entrance fee to the Kronborg Castle is NOT included. Are you ready to discover Helsingør? Happy exploring!
