The Sollipulli volcano has the largest crater in South America. Inside the crater there is a huge glacier, which is one of the most important water sources in Araucanía, with an area of 24 square kilometers. The trail runs through forests of ancient monkey puzzle trees and huge coihue trees, as well as ancient volcanic eruptions. The trail leads to the beautiful San Francisco Glacier lookout at 2,500 meters (8,200 ft) and the Morales Glacier lagoon. During the hike we will have a refreshing stop at “Aguas de Panimávida”, iron-rich carbonated waters that directly spills out from the earth. Difficulty level is HIGH.
