This Musical tells the supposed meeting that Carlos Gardel and Frank Sinatra had in NYC around 1934. The show includes Gardel's best tangos, sung in Spanish and English. The play won 7 Hugo Awards, including Best Musical.
According to legend, in 1934 Gardel was performing on NBC in New York when a young admirer approached him, eager to meet the "great baritone from the River Plate," who was none other than 19-year-old Frank Sinatra.
That starting point triggered a very attractive idea: the night in which Gardel and Sinatra were locked in a dressing room... Gardel, trying to get his annoying fan off his back. Sinatra, trying to understand the passion he perceived in Zorzal's songs... The two, starting a friendship that would last forever.
The women, the friends, the neighborhood, the game, the lunfardo, the good and the bad company are just some of the themes that Carlitos and Frank cover while they interpret the best of the Gardelian repertoire.
