Great Game Drive and River Cruise

This is an all day (early morning till evening) tour. If you’re not staying in Botswana you will need to arrange transportation to the border. That is in the fine print and easy to miss. However the effort is worth it. I did a similar tour in 2019 that was also great and this was different but also amazing. On the first I saw hundreds of giraffes and zebras, 20 elephants and no lions. On this trip we saw hundreds of elephants. We watched a group of 40 or 50 taking mud baths by the river and saw herds later. We saw 3 adult lionesses and 3 cubs that had just enjoyed a kill. The adults were chilling and the cubs were very active. They were not little cubs, more like 3/4 adult size. On the river cruise we saw many hippos including 2 fighting over a female. We got closer than I wanted to be to some large crocs lying on the shore. The sunset was beautiful.

meine erste Tour die nach der Hälfte auf Grund der Unfähigkeit des Veranstalters abgebrochen wurde. aber von Vorne: der Anbieter auf Viator veranstaltet nicht die Tour, sonder ein Subunternehmen, das aber anscheinend nichts wirklich über die Tour weisss: - Geplant war die Abholung um 06:30 -> am Abend vorher bekomme ich die Info, daß wir gegen 6:45 Uhr abgeholt werden, da wir die letzten Personen auf der Pickup-Tour vor dem Nationalpark sind. Wie bitte? ich dachte es ist ein "Private Game Drive". - Nachdem wir um kurz nach 7 Uhr abgeholt wurden, fuhren wir bis ca 08:30 Uhr im Ort (Kasane) herum um den eigentlichen Guide zu finden. - Auf dem Game Drive war ich dann ganz froh, daß noch andere Gäste dabei waren, denn der Guide hätte die Tiere wie zB Giraffen gar nicht gefunden.. - Als der Guide dann meinte, in welchem Hotel er uns denn nach dem Game Drive absetzen soll, musste ich darauf hinweisen, daß wir einen Ganztagesausflug gebucht hatten (Then enjoy a delicious buffet lunch along the river before embarking on a river cruise )... darauf hin kam er mit der Idee, uns bei Nandos in der Shopping mall abzusetzen... (weit weg von along the river)... das wurde dann noch geklärt... - als es gegen 15 uhr ernst wurde mit der River cruise wurde... wurde daraus nichts, da der selbe guide nicht in der Lage war den Motor zu starten. - Nach der Frage, was ist denn mit den angekündigten "beers, Lunch, water, breakfast spirits and soft drinks on the river cruise" sind sie schnell in eine Bude nebenan gelaufen um für jeden EINE warme Dose Cola zu kaufen - das Eis zur Kühlung hätten wir selber bezahlen müsen... - als es dann 16:30 uhr wurde und der Schiffsmotor immer noch nicht ging, haben wir das ganze abgebrochen, da wir mit den Nerven am Ende waren. Das wurde dann immerhin vom ausführenden Veranstalter schriftlich bestätigt. Die Tour kling gut, ist sie aber nicht, wenn sie von Big Sam Hubber "organisiert" und durchgeführt wird...
