Well organized. Your tour guide was well informed and communicated well - would’ve have been better if they separated the groups based language - the constant switch between English and Russian meant some things were missed in the moment. Lots more driving than sightseeing but it’s understandable given the distance from Tbilisi.

The trip is well planned with plenty of time to spend at each location. One point to highlight, they should clearly mention that there would be some hiking or steep stairs to climb at Vardzia. Rest everything was perfect.

The guide was horrible. Roni as he called himself shouted to the driver during the whole journey or he shouted into his mobile or they listened to music at full volume. It seemed As if it was their trip and all the other passengers who paid for it were just burden on their back. The worst guide of my life.

Best part: The places we visited are amazing. The tour guide was always explaining the historical facts. Worse part: The tour company mixed Russian and English speaker, the tour guide had a though time talking in 2 language. Bad organization, it wasn't created any interaction with the participants of the tour.

I am sorry you are not satisfied. The tour is conducted in two languages. During the tour election, it shows that it is in two languages. You had the best car and a professional knowledgeable guide.

Longgg tour to Vardzia

Vardzia is amazing. A must see. However, the trip is very long. 14 hours! No reason to spend so much time in Borjomi and the last point, Rabat, can be skipped. Our guide didn’t speak good English. Maybe because the we were the only English speakers on the bus, and everyone else spoke Russian, although the tour was supposed to be English only. Still, I recommend. But with a caution.

Extreme physical effort

Mixed language groups can be tricky. Gets worse when you are only English speaking couple in a group of Russian speakers. The guide begins to discount your presence, maybe subconsciously. Vardiza, though a mediaeval marvel, requires extreme physical effort to get in and get out. My wife could not make it. This should have been mentioned upfront at the time of the booking.

Not as advertised. Highly qualified guide service was not provided in the language booked (English). Explanations were only available in Russian due to guide speaking English “very badly”—only English portion of the tour was at Vardzia, where an audio guide was provided instead of a live guide. I took a risk given the limited number of reviews available at the time, and wish I hadn’t. Let this be a warning. Either avoid completely, or confirm the language the tour will actually be given in before disembarking—and even then, I’d hesitate to suggest trusting this company. I booked this tour the day before it was scheduled to run, and checked in with the office in person to confirm my reservation. Driver was fine as a driver, though things got a little too exciting at times, but conducted about 98% of the tour, explanations, etc. in Russian. He was unable to provide more than a couple of limited comments in English, and never full sentences. One of the other tour members attempted to translate for me, but that’s not her job. When I wrote to the company midday to ask if I was possibly in the wrong vehicle, the answer was that today there were five Russian speakers and only me, that it was a small group, so that was why explanations were only in Russian—despite the fact that the driver could not have conducted the tour in English due to his limited English ability, even if 9 other English speakers had joined. He spoke English “very badly” by his own admission. Company offered other tours on subsequent days at a “good price” as compensation, which I couldn’t do due to limited time and other obligations and I doubt I would have even if I could—why would I trust that those tours would be operated in English? And why would giving them more of my money, good value or no, fix an issue where they took my money under false pretenses in the first place? Their solution does not make up for the fact that this particular tour was not operated with a bilingual guide as advertised. Either advertise it as a transfer service only, or don’t sell it to English speakers. It is absurd to charge all members of the tour the same price but only provide a “highly qualified guide” service in the language booked for some. When I suggested a partial refund, the tour operator ended the call. A shame, as the destinations were lovely but meaningless without explanations, and Google translate couldn’t process what the guide was saying sufficiently. I spent an inordinate amount of time on my phone trying to process bad translations and missing the sights. The only comprehensible part of the tour was when the other members were escorted by a live guide at Vardzia and I was given an audio guide set to English. FYI that tour also operated with a 9 hour gap between meal breaks, for those who need to plan meals around conditions (bring your own snacks!), and lasted 15.5 hours instead of 13, for those who need to plan.
