Overview
Learn to surf in Tamarindo Guanacaste with an instructor with over 15-years of experience. This lesson is about two hours, where you’ll learn techniques including efficient paddling, board control, wave riding position, and some basic instruction for catching waves. Afterwards, have some fresh fruit to get some energy and recover quickly.

This was amazing! Alvaro was perfect for instructing my daughter (18) and I as beginners. Unlike the other instructors and schools nearby, Alvaro gave us 1-on-1 attention including standing in the water with us, picking waves, coaching us both before and after each run and helping us throughout. He was also kind, honest and carried a great laugh. We had an incredible time and lifelong memories.

It was such a good experience and fun at my age learning surfing. Alvaro was very knowledgeable , patient and kind. Will definitely come back and try it again.

My family Had a great surf lesson with Alvaro. Communication was great through WhatsApp and he and his buddy helped the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids). They were patient and very encouraging. Alvaro bought is dessert afterwards as well. Highly recommend for the personalized lesson and ratio of teachers to students. Plus no extra up charge for young kids. (Some places charge extra but he does not!). Best value, you won’t be disappointed

Surfing lessons from Alvaro were a definite highlight of our whole Costa Rica trip! Right from the start, he made sure we felt comfortable and fitted us with appropriate sized boards. He took time to help us stretch and teach us some solid techniques. Then we headed to the waves! Alvaro was great - he was very patient, sincere, kind and encouraging. He was right in the water with us, coaching us, guiding us and making sure we were having FUN! We all managed to surf some waves - myself (age 40) and my two boys (age 9 and 12). Afterwards, he bought us bottled water and a delicious fruit platter from a local Tamarindo vendor. Alvaro was kind, fun, respectul and a great surfing instructor. We all highly recommend taking a lesson from Alvaro - you won’t regret it!
