Meet us in front of Iguana Surf, a surfboard rental shop on the beach in Tamarindo. Walk along the main road until you see the small shop called Iguana Surf. Please don’t enter the shop—they’re not part of our tours. Instead, walk across to the beach; the lifeguard stand will be on your left.

The horses are treated very poorly and are rowdy. The guides don't say much to you and take you a weird route. It was cool as an experience I guess so not 1 star but poor providers. Also could probably negotiate it cheaper at the beach itself.

We do want to clarify that the wellbeing of our horses is extremely important to us. They are cared for daily, properly fed, and monitored to ensure they remain healthy and comfortable. We’ve never had any issues reported regarding the treatment of our animals, and we take pride in maintaining their welfare.
Our routes are chosen intentionally for safety, scenery, and to avoid crowded areas, which sometimes means they may feel a bit different from what guests expect. As for our guides, we always encourage them to be friendly and helpful, but we also appreciate feedback so we can continue improving the experience for everyone.

I love Costa Rica so much and have been many times but was sooo upset after this experience. The horses were very thin and frankly I should have cancelled when I saw them but my niece was set on this excursion. But, by the end she was also upset and felt very bad for the horses. Not only did they not look healthy, they seems exhausted and I didn't see any water even on the beach for them to drink which is crazy after being out there all day long. The guide also kept snapping what I believe was a whip to keep them moving and it was very upsetting. I felt sick to my stomach and would not recommend this to anyone. These animals are amazing and deserve better. It is shameful.

Our animals are regularly fed, provided with fresh water, and monitored to ensure they remain healthy and able to do their work safely.
We understand that appearances can sometimes be concerning, especially after horses have completed several rides during a warm day. However, our horses are accustomed to the climate and activity level, and we make sure they receive appropriate rest, hydration, and veterinary care. The guide’s tool that may have looked like a whip is used primarily as a sound cue to guide the horses forward rather than to harm them.
We genuinely care about our animals—they are part of our family and the heart of our operation. We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention and will continue to review our practices to ensure both our guests and our horses are treated with the care and respect they deserve.

Great ride on the beach. Horses are sweet and sure footed. Guide didn’t talk at all except to ask if we wanted pics together which was perfect for me as I was there for the horses not the conversation.

The beach was kinda crowded. It was fun to ride horses, but not exactly an enlightening tour.

Relaxing, peaceful, sunset ride on the beach. Just our family of four with a very competent teenage boy as our guide. Walking only. Healthy, well-trained horses. No experience necessary and good for any age. Our guide took lots of family photos for us as the the sun was setting.

Our guide Jeronimo was so accommodating, very nice, and had a clever sense of humor. We ranged in ages seven to 65 and he paired us with good horses and checked that we were all comfortable. The ride was amazing and fun . What a wonderful experience and lifetime memory!

This was such a great experience! Our family of 5 had 3 experienced riders and 2 very nervous riders. The guides were so helpful and patient. We rode along the beach and then explored a small area of town. It was a perfect way to explore Tamarindo. Would highly recommend this tour!

This was truly enjoyable. Being able to experience a horseback ride on the beach of the specific ocean was like being in a movie. Our guide, Geronimo, was so fabulous. My daughters are both little people, and he helped them get in the saddle and made sure they were comfortable and felt safe on the horses. They had never been on a horse before. We really loved this experience and give Geronimo 5+ stars.

This horseback riding tour on the beach was an absolutely great experience. The ride itself was breathtaking, with stunning coastal views and a serene atmosphere. The horses were well-trained and gentle, making the experience both enjoyable and comfortable. Our tour guide, Jeronimo was very knowledgeable and made sure we were safe at all times. Given the quality of the tour and the beautiful setting, I believe the price is more than reasonable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a memorable and picturesque horseback riding adventure.

Riding horses on the beach is a wonderful experience. The guides were kind. However it was a bit overpriced. You can rent horses for less on the beach.

The ride was ok. The guide was about 15 minutes late. Also, we were a bit frustrated because our guide stopped to talk to no less than 7 other people along the way. He would stop for a good 2 minutes with each encounter. I appreciated the solid communication and customer service from an administrative perspective, but was disappointed in the guide.

My two friends and I were over the moon with our horseback riding experience!! This more than exceeded our expectations- we rode our horses along the water as the sun set and the view was absolutely breathtaking. Our tour guide was so kind, careful, attentive, informative, and his love for the horses showed!! This is a MUST DO for your Tamarindo experience!

I always wanted to try a horseback ride on a beach at Sunset. I got my chance in Tamarindo on a Sunday evening. It was just an overall great experience. The tour operator was very responsive to our questions about the meet up location and I had a great ride with other riders. Jeronimo was our tour guide and he did a fantastic job of riding instruction. He was also very helpful to me . We headed north up the beach and got to see a wedding party on the beach. Jeronimo took great pictures of us at several breach sunset locations, and it will be a great memory for me for a very long time. The horses are well taken care of. It was very much worth it!

So we paid about $80 per person - for this just a 45 minutes hardback ride right on the beach across from our hotel which -5 times more than some random horse guys were offering the price.
Two adults and two toddlers our toddlers sat with us. You need two horses still they charge the full priced for our kids and guide hardly spoke english and not much guiding us with anything except riding the horse. There was no information given. There was no fun experience. Maybe we asked for some few photos to take, and that felt like they were irritated when we asked him to take our photos, I don’t think I would recommend this to anyone.
Viator - you should know better please take away this company from your website. The companies on your site/app are pretty good - which people trust. This tour company does not belong on Viator.
Only fun part our daughters liking the horses. ( Even the horses were not taken care of - Ny horse had some kind of open injury to his ear which I pointed out to them - Hope they took care of him)

Rodrigo and Wilman were great to interact with. Rodrigo facilitated the ride and Wilman was our tour guide. He made sure we were comfortable and made it a very enjoyable ride. I would recommend this activity to anyone who is adventurous or enjoys horse back riding.

Nice ride on the beach. I wore water shoes, and would recommend footwear with ankle coverage, or some wrap, since the stirup rubbed a bit. Horse, named Tequila, was very gentle. Only galloped when he wanted to catch up to other horses. Very windy and even with a chin strap my bush hat kept blowing off, so watch your headgear.
Glad I did it.
Excellent guide. He dismounted and took photos with each person's camera.
