Our guide, Kulwatter, was well informed, shared lots of local knowledge and was extremely accommodating and concerned about the guest’s comfort. The tour itself is very interesting especially the Bell Museum. Plenty of time for a relaxing lunch.
First and foremost, the mini-van was way too small for 6 passengers and the driver. Some people were larger and some had mobility issues and had a tough time making it to their uncomfortable seats. Passengers were complaining right from the start and wanted a larger vehicle or less people, that didn’t happen. We left for the excursion but patrons insisted on cutting the trip short. 5– 6 hours would’ve been way too much. The driver/tour guide spoke English although with a thick accent making him hard to understand and a lot of us couldn’t hear him properly. Very little information was given about the tour. Needless to say we will not use Viator in the future and will be seeking a refund.
There were only 4 of us on the tour with the guide, Jack. He offered us many choices such as bathroom stops, stops at scenic overlooks, and even the order in which to do things. He was very knowledgeable about everything on the tour and he even offered many times to take pictures of us.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a great experience with Jack. It’s fantastic to know that his knowledge, flexibility, and thoughtful suggestions for washroom stops and scenic viewpoints made your tour more enjoyable. We’re also glad he captured some amazing pictures for you! It was a pleasure having your group with us, and we hope to see you again in Cape Breton!
We had a wonderful Cabot Trail tour from Sydney with our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids). The comfortable ride made for a relaxing day, and we loved the beautiful scenic stops along the way for photos. The stops in Baddeck and at the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, along with the chocolate shop, were highlights of the tour. Our guide, Kalwinder, was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. It was a fantastic way to see the beauty of Cape Breton without the stress of driving. Recommend this tour!

Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! We’re delighted to hear that your family had such a relaxing and enjoyable Cabot Trail experience. We’re glad you enjoyed the scenic photo stops, Baddeck, the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, and, of course, the Cabotto chocolate shop!
It’s especially wonderful to hear your kind words about Kulwinder. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming your family back to Cape Breton Island in the future!
Our guide Jack was so sweet and accommodating it made this day really fun. He made sure the 6 of us in a smallish van were comfortable and happy and gave us choices along the way of where to stop and what to do in what order. We really enjoyed the stop at Baddeck and the Alexander Graham Bell museum, the chocolate factory and the locally owned cafe for lunch. It’s a lot of driving but the scenery was beautiful and we learned so much about the island and Nova Scotia. Extra bonus: We left a jacket in the van but when we got back to the ship we realized our guide had thoughtfully left it with security there - with our names on it! He really went above and beyond to ensure we had a nice day.

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind review! We’re so happy to hear that Jack helped make your day fun, comfortable, and memorable. It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed the beautiful scenery and all the stops along the way. We’re also glad your jacket made it safely back to you—Jack was happy to make sure it was returned! We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back to Cape Breton someday!
We did this tour primarily for the time at the Alexander Bell museum. The time there was very sufficient (40-45 min) as the museum was good but somewhat not quite what we were expecting.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed your time at the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and found the 40–45 minutes sufficient to explore it. We appreciate your honest comments, as every guest’s expectations and interests can be different. We hope you still enjoyed the rest of your tour and the beautiful scenery of Cape Breton!
Very professional tour guide Lotus. A great tour!! Very thorough and informative with plenty of time at our stops.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour and found Lotus to be professional, thorough, and informative. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back for another memorable adventure with Red Leaf Tours!
This would have been a 5 star as the guide, Vishnu was excellent, but it was a very long drive. We also happen to be in the backseat of the van and had trouble hearing the other passengers in the guide.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re delighted to hear that Vishnu was an excellent guide! Some of Cape Breton’s most wonderful attractions are spread across the island, so a little driving is necessary to experience them. We’re sorry it was difficult to hear from the back of the van. We’re working on introducing microphones and headphones, even in our smaller vehicles, so all passengers can hear the guide clearly. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back!
Jake took us on a very informative tour of Sydney. He shared so much information. We were never rushed at taking pictures. Jake told us we could ask him to stop if any one wanted pictures. We were very pleased with our tour.

All was covered but the day was foggy and Cabot Trail was difficult to see anything....but we enjoyed the Bell telephone museum and the 1 hour free at Baddeck exploring the town
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for your review. While we’re sorry the fog prevented you from enjoying the scenic views along the Cabot Trail, we’re delighted to hear you enjoyed visiting the Bell Telephone Museum and exploring Baddeck. We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you back on a clearer day!
Our tour guide really tried to make the best with foggy rainy weather. He gave us a lot of information but we could not really see anything.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for your kind review. While we’re sorry the weather limited the views, we’re pleased to hear our guide made every effort to make the experience enjoyable. We’re glad you were at least able to enjoy the museum despite the fog covering much of the scenery. We truly appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you back on a clearer day!
Still learned a lot, even when the weather wouldn't cooperate. Operator did a great job adapting both to a foggy day and the interests of the group.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear you still had an enjoyable and informative experience despite the foggy weather. We’re glad our guide could adapt the tour to make the most of the day. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you again!
Our guide, "Jack", was wonderful. He was informative, entertaining and gave us a great overview of the area.

Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your tour and that our guide made it both informative and entertaining. We’ll be sure to share your wonderful feedback with him. We truly appreciate your support and hope to welcome you back to Cape Breton again!
The tour guide tried his best with what he had to work with. "Jack" very nice and accommodating. The drive to Baddock was long, they gave us 1 hr for lunch, witch should have been skipped, rather walk through a town. We had 45 min at A.G. museum, we'll worth the history, time was plenty. The sights along the way were beautiful, but the stops were tourist stops, nothing exciting. Wish the itinerary was more focused on NS. Maybe find an oat biscuit factory (area is known for those) Gaelic college did not offer anything but gift shop of items, not made by student, and bathroom. Chocolate shop, very basic, but nice people. Country store, not sure why we stopped. There are a lot of art shops on the Cabbot trail, maybe choose some different art and stop at those shops, maybe working local artists, could make it more interesting.

Thank you for your feedback and for joining our tour. We're pleased to hear that Jack provided friendly and accommodating service and that you enjoyed the scenery and the Alexander Graham Bell Museum.
As this was very early in the tourism season, many of the local shops and country stores had only recently reopened and were still preparing for the busy summer months, so their offerings were more limited than usual. Despite that, these small local businesses do their best to showcase Cape Breton hospitality, and many of our guests leave with wonderful experiences from visiting them.
We truly appreciate your suggestions regarding local artists, artisan workshops, and more Nova Scotia-focused experiences. Feedback like yours helps us continue improving our tours, and we’ll certainly take your comments into consideration as we refine our itineraries throughout the season.
This tour gave us a taste of all the beautiful things to experience in the area. Now we just want to go back!

Warm regards,

I was very disappointed with this excursion and would not recommend it. Below is the email I sent to Red Leaf Tours.
I was advised in an email from the tour company that I had 30 minutes after the ship docked at the port to meet the tour group. I disembarked from the ship, as soon as I could, and joined almost all of the other excursion passengers in the tent at 9:30. Because several passengers from another ship hadn’t arrived yet, the tour guide, Kulwinder, made the decision to keep our group waiting for them. We were forced to wait until 10:50, one hour and twenty minutes in the windy and uncomfortable tent before the excursion began.
Because of the long delay, the excursion failed to adhere to the expected itinerary. Rather than eating a light lunch at our own pace, as stated in the itinerary, Kulwinder instructed us to purchase our food and eat it on the bus. We looked forward to enjoying our lunch while sitting comfortably outdoors and, instead we were forced to eat lunch on a moving bus.
When we arrived at the Alexander Graham Bell museum, we were allowed only thirty (30) minutes to review the exhibits, an insufficient amount of time. The main reason I booked this excursion was because I was very interested in seeing the exhibits in this museum. Because of the limited amount of time we were given, I rushed through the museum and didn’t have a chance to do more than have a quick look at the displays. It was because of the late-arriving excursion group members that we were forced to rush back to the port to keep them from missing the tenders that were going to take them back to their ship.
I received the following reply from the company. The payment I made for this tour was not refunded.
We are truly sorry to hear that our tour guide did not meet your expectations. We take all feedback seriously and are currently reviewing the matter to better understand what happened and how we can improve.
Due to a high volume of emails and customer inquiries, our response time may be slightly delayed. However, please rest assured that your concern is important to us, and we will get back to you with your refund request as soon as possible.
We did the Cabot Trail and Alexander Graham Bell Museum and lunch in Baddeck. Jack was our guide and he accommodated our every needs. He was very informative and professional. We highly recommend this tour.
So worth the experience. Great value. Our guide , Kulwinder , was knowledgeable , on time and generally made our "adventure " more enjoyable. Knew much about the area.
We arrived at the Sydney port on a cruise ship. Our friendly guide met us nearby which was perfect, accommodating my 91 yr old aunt who couldn’t walk far. We had a fabulous day seeing the beautiful foliage colors on the Cabot Trail and visiting the interesting Alexander Graham Bell Museum. . Our guide, Taranpreet, was informative and very thoughtful. He stopped many times along the Cabot Trail so we could take photos making it a very special experience including stopping at a chocolate shop and taking a small ferry (which was a fun, unique experience) in Englishtown near St Ann’s Loop. We had a very memorable day. We highly recommend our guide, Taranpreet, and this tour.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear you had such a memorable day exploring the Cabot Trail with Taranpreet. It’s wonderful that the tour was comfortable for your aunt and that you enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the museum, and those special stops along the way. We’ll be sure to pass along your compliments to Taranpreet — he’ll be delighted! We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back again.
Small group tour was better than the big bus excursion with the cruise line. Nice drive up the Cabot Trail to see the sites and beautiful fall colors. Our drive was very accommodating to our requests. Was a good day for sure!
Beautiful scenery along Cabot Trail and Baddeck. Our tour of six was in a minivan along with our driver Manny. Manny was very accommodating and strived to make our tour memorable. The only complaint is if you are seated in the back of the minivan; you could not hear what the driver/tour guide was saying. The driver/tour guide did say we would be switching seats along the tour. But there is always an entitled passenger who refused to do so. We do recommend this tour over the big buses because smaller vans and buses venture into areas where the larger vehicles cannot go such as the cable ferry. The Bell museum in Baddeck was interesting and we had plenty of time to have lunch on the water. We definitely recommend this tour.
The contact person with Red Leaf Tours was excellent at promptly, getting back to me with any question that I had.
My guide, Vishnu, was also, the driver. He was an excellent safe driver and gave very interesting commentary. I can certainly recommend Red Leaf tours and Vishnu 100%!
Excellent tour. Very personal as there were only 7 of us. Tailored to whatever we wanted to do, see of where we wanted to stop. Very informative. I would highly recommend this tour. Our driver was aware of the time we needed to be back on ship and got us back in plenty of time.
We caught a beautiful day. The Colors of the trees were. Spectacular. Our guide Nanny was great. We had a fun day.
Yusef with Red Leaf tours gave us a wonderful overview of Sydney, the Cabot Trai and Alexander Graham Bell museum
Thank you for keeping our group together by allowing us to ride in a limo. Kevin was great driver and guide.
Nice day spent with Vishal. He was very knowledgable , polite & friendly. The foliage on the Cabot Trail was spectacular! Enjoyed the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. It was nice to be on a small group tour.
Southeastern part of Cabot Trail is disappointing. Just a road with trees, no views of ocean or mountain top. Small stop for food, over crowded, sandwich was dry. Gaelic College was disappointing, just some buildings to look at. Bell museum was very good, enjoyed that very much. Time management was not good, only spent 10 minutes in Baddeck. Most people didn't get off the bus. Barely made it back to ship on time.
Was a good tour, stopped for lots of photo points, Bell museum was good. Baddeck was a 15 minute quick wander, didn't feel like there was much to see there. Scenery was stunning.
Although this was cheaper than the cruise ship tour, have to say we weren't expecting to be with 40 people on a full size coach.
