I highly recommend this tour. Louis was very knowledgeable about the local area, and wine regions across the world. We went to four wineries/wine farms on the day – Glenelly Estate, L’avenir Wine Estate, Neil Ellis Wines (we had lunch here) and Kleine Zalze. We felt the day was at a leisurely pace and we were never rushed to go to the next wine farm like a large group tour.

I highly recommend this tour. Louis was very knowledgeable about the local area, and wine regions across the world. We went to four wineries/wine farms on the day – Glenelly Estate, L’avenir Wine Estate, Neil Ellis Wines (we had lunch here) and Kleine Zalze. We felt the day was at a leisurely pace and we were never rushed to go to the next wine farm like a large group tour.

I had a wonderful day learning about wine from Louis. Wine is new to me so having Louis help me understand all the technicalities of what wine is and why it tastes the way it tastes. I really enjoyed learning all about the growing, processing and why a wine flavour tastes the way it does. I felt very comfortable learning with Louis and learning was really what I enjoy doing when I'm travelling. Louis knew wine and all about the Stellenbosh valley if you already know what you like he will know where to find it. Highly recommended.

We had a delightful day with our guide Jan Du Preez, who is retired from the wine business. Tastings at 3 wine farms and another for lunch. The experiences were distinct. Rustenberg has old buildings, a garden, and the widest selection of wines. At Neil Ellis, we tasted premium wines from an innovator. At Barkinney, our server brought sprigs of fresh herbs to show how those aromas would influence our impressions of the wines. Tokara was a delightful lunch stop.
Jan had a wealth of information about South African wine.

an absolutely sensational day. we could not speak more highly of louis whose knowledge and passion for the local wine industry was amazing. we would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience the wineries of Stollenbosch but also gain an insight into the history and background of Stellenbosch.

A good selection of wines to taste. Stunning views in each winery. Our guide and driver Jens was very knowledgeable about wine making. Really enjoyed talking to him about S Africa life in general. A very good trip and would thoroughly recommend it.

Die Tour war very amazing, der Kater am nächsten Tag vorbestimmt. Beste Weine auf drei Weingütern genossen, die in drei Himmelrichtungen ausgehend von Stellebosch gelegen waren. Der teuerste Wein war mit 1150 Rand pro Flasche ausgezeichnet. Der Veranstalter hat sich also nicht Lumpen lassen. Der Fahrer und Guide hat Weinbau studiert und konnte deshalb sehr viel zu den einzelnen Produkten und zum Umgang mit Wein und Weingläsern erzählen.
Einziger Negativpunkt: Die Angabe der Abholzeit musste beim Veranstalter erfragt werden, was für uns sprachfaulen Deutschen schon eine Herausforderung darstellt

I am still amazed at your review as we explained on the day we can not control the road works that is currently on the Annandale raod, influencing 5 wine estates. You had a short wait in the car on the way to lunch at Stellenbosch reserve. Most guests will just chat and enjoy the views when there is some road works along the way.
We visited 4 well known wine estates that we often book and visit on this tour with great sucsess and all guests enjoy it, as you can see in all our other reviews:
1. Overgaauw - small boutique estate only open by appointment and the owner presents the tasting
2. L Avenir - cheese & wine pairing - all wines and cheese was pakced out and all bookings was made
3. Lunch at Stellenbosch reserve - amazing views and excellent food
4. Alto - award winning older estate where you also saw the barrel cellar

We picked up that you were private tour clients that actually booked a group tour.
Unfortunate we can not control who will be working on a wine farm each day nor the road works of the municipality, that is only temporary.
We have been doing wine tours for 16 years and have happy guests on tour every day.

Mein Tourguide Jan ist „ im Wein“ aufgewachsen. Hatte noch nie einen so erfahrenen und netten Tourguide! Statt angesetzter 4-5 Stunden hat unsere Tour knapp 8 Stunden gedauert. Ich habe viel über Wein und Schaumwein gelernt.
Würde ich mit. Jan als Tourguide immer wieder gern buchen.

Die Weinproben waren o.k. es fehlte dabei kleine Häppchen wie Käse usw. Das Mittagsessen in dieser Form hätte man sich dann sparen können. Es war eine deutschsprachige Tour gebucht die aber in Englisch durchgeführt wurde.

Dear Klaus. You booked a group tour first of all. At a stage we did offer the group tour with a German guide, but if English guests book, the group tour will be done in English, which is understandable. There was Australian guests on tour, so the tour had to be done in English for them to understand. Your tour was also on 3 January, a very busy time of the year and South African holiday time. I could not find a German guide available on that day and I emailed you beforehand to ask and inform you. I have all on email as proof where you said that this is fine and no problem for a English guide. Matthuys was you guide, we normally have only glowing reviews about him. The cheese is small yes, because this is a food and wine pairing with 5 pieces of cheese & 5 wines. Again we have never had complaints about this and guests love the cheese pairing. The lunch was booked at Cuvee Simonsig and each guests can order what they like. Lunch is always booked, so there is no way on this group package that you could "spare" / not have lunch, seeing again that it is a group tour.
You did 5 wonderful farms that day like L Avenir, Hartenberg, Kleine Zalze & Deux Freres. it is a pitty that the tastings was just "ok" for you, seeing that all 5 these estates offer award winning wines.
Perhaps please next time book a private tour and then we can ensure you have a German guide for the day and plan the day according to your requirements. Thank you.
