Truly phenomenal experience. Beautiful trot on the horses and the spots they take you are breathtaking. The picnic lunch is perfect and hits the spot. The guide was very friendly and conversational and had a true passion for horses. He actually grew up around most of the horse they have there at the stable since he was 7 and mentioned how he watched most of them grow up form foals! Worth every penny for this experience

The horses all seemed well cared for. Our guide Jordan was wonderful. We really loved riding along the beach and the ocean-side picnic was a highlight!

We did the picnic beach ride. My husband is a non rider and we were matched perfectly with suitable horses. I’d definitely recommend Sandy Hooves Stables, it is very clear that the horses come first, they are very well looked after and are in superb condition, something really important to me. The ride was fantastic! Beautiful scenery, lovely beech ride, gorgeous picnic and then we were able to take the horses swimming in the sea 😁
Stefan, was our guide and he was fantastic! He’s very knowledgeable, certainly a horse person, really looked after us and made sure we had the best time! There aren’t enough good things to say about this ride, definitely would highly recommend!

It’s different than I expected. Our guide was great but the ride to the beach and back was very slow, very uneven terrain and hard on the horses. There were so many large rocks and stones the horses had a hard time with their footing and stumbled a few times. There were several very steep hills on rutted and crumbling dirt paths. It was not private, there was another person that sat and ate lunch with us then road back with us. The ocean riding part was bareback, wasn’t expecting that and it was quite difficult to hold on plus the waves crashing I almost fell off several times so I ended early. I enjoyed the scenery though it was so primitive and peaceful. The horses were sweet and well-behaved, and we got to see the guides run them hard on the beach while we ate lunch. With the drive there and drive back it was close to 4 hours so plan for that.

We had a great time at Sandy Hoofs. the staff was amazing! The horses looked very well taken care of. We had a wonderful ride out to the ocean where we had a picnic lunch. The food was very good and there was plenty to eat. the guides were very diligent in keeping us happy and safe. We also had the company of their three dogs who were an added treat to the ride.
I would very much recommend doing your horseback riding experience with this company!

Great experience with beautiful views of the island. Jordy was a great guide for us novice horseback riders. Definitely recommend!

The guide was friendly and when we got to the coast, it was beautiful. The drive to the stables was difficult because it was steep & wet. We did not have 4 wheel drive so had to park the car & walk the last part. The ocean views were beautiful. We got in the water with one horse to take photos but it was guided. We selected the picnic ride. The food was bought from a grocery store and put in a cardboard box which was OK but nothing special. The shelter where we had the picnic had beautiful views but was trashy & needs to be cleaned up.

Wow! Incredible ride with stunning, one-of-a-kind views!!! The picnic had quality items and the horses are well managed! I will be back!

Absolutely fabulous ride with a lovely picnic on the beach. Our morning started with a concise safety briefing including how experienced we were so they could match horse to rider. I had ridden a lot in my youth (now 64) but had not been on a horse for 40 years. My husband had never ridden and was slightly anxious. However, he was soon reassured as our guide (Jordan) was going to walk with us, alongside John to give him support if he needed it.
It was a lovely experience to ride a horse through the waves along a beautiful beach. Jordan soon hung back as John became more confident. We stopped for our picnic, tying the horses up by a shack on the beach and enjoyed an excellent packed lunch washed down with a cold bottle of Prosecco! Jordan asked if we wanted to take the horses into the water (bare back) but we were quite happy just riding together with Jordan taking photos of us with our phones. We would both do it again in a heartbeat!

Taking the horse in the ocean. Our guide brought his three dogs which was fine except they ended up in some of our pictures which I didn’t want
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Hello Tim, so glad to know that you enjoyed the horseback ride, the views and taking the horses into the ocean. Bijoux, Tyson and Kara are our three dogs that are also part of our team, they are happy to head out each day with the horses. I'm sorry that you didn't appreciate having them in your photos.

We booked a picnic horseback ride on the beach at 9am. We woke up at 7am and it was sheeting rain, thundeirng and lightning. Not exactly an enjoyable day to go horseback riding on the beach, nor was it safe. I contacted Viator right away, they told me to wait while they contacted the vendor. The vendor told us to come anyway, which round trip would have been a $40 cab ride. The weather cleared up for about 10 minutes and went right back to high winds, heavy rains, thunder/lightning. We said, please let us reschedule for a day where the weather is not so horrible. Also yes we were on an island but we were on the same area of the island as the stable, so if they try to use the excuse that it wasn't raining there is not gonna fly. They refused to refund us and refused to reschedule and Viator also refused to help us! Extremely irresponsible to expect their customers to ride horses in that kind of weather. Obviously they don't care about their customers, it's all about the MONEY. I had to have our hotel call them twice and finally they said ok to rebooking but they refused to prepare the picnic we paid for. Umm, can you get any cheaper? We went and it was very muddy from the previous rain. One of the guides, was like hey, aren't you the couple that didn't show the other day? I was like, really?? Then I still gave a pretty generous tip. Did not receive even a thank you for the tip. The beach in the picture is also not a good representation of how it really is.. It is not this pristine beach you see, it was covered in seaweed and it smelled. This was the ONLY horrible experience we had in St Lucia as everyone else was super nice. All the people working in our hotel were completely on our side and were telling us to just go there and demand our money back. They said if we had booked this directly through their hotel, they would not have gotten away with treating us this way.

Updated:
To our interested readers, I responded to this review on August 11. This guest rode in early August and left this negative review on Viator. Recently on October 17th (a touch over 2months later) they chose to leave an additional negative review on Google based on my response below:
Ms/Mrs. Joy (Melissa) Hafele,
This review is very different from the communication between us as well as your feedback on the day that you and your companion Paul rode. Receiving a negative review is an opportunity for us to improve our service, but the review should at least be truthful. A review that is not truthful is not helpful to either the tour company or potential guests.
Given the opportunity, your statements imply you would lie your way into experiencing a tour for free at the supplier’s expense. Viator were aware of our attempts to contact you via phone, and they were also aware of our many attempts to contact you by relying to the email you sent that morning. It was very clear to Viator that we were doing our very best to both reach and accommodate you, I’m not sure what additional help you expected to receive from them.
Facilitating you in the way that I did put our company at a loss, went against our policy yet resulted in you saying we are unreasonable.
Rain can occur at any time during the tour as it’s an outdoor activity and our tours range from 2-3 hours long. We are reasonable and will refund/reschedule if it is not safe to head out. The morning of your tour on Saturday 6th August the weather started off rainy yet all our tours showed up excited to head out. We also had persons calling us to see if we could fit them in that morning, but we were fully booked. We are a small stable and can only accommodate a small number guests a day.
You emailed me directly at 7:36am that morning saying that you assumed your tour was canceled due to the rain and I replied at 7:40am (4mins later) assuring you that your tour was still confirmed. You never showed up for your 9am ride on Saturday 6th and my many attempts to call you on the number you provided went unanswered. At 9:15am I replied again to your email to let you know that the horses and guide with the packed picnic were still waiting and that we hoped to see you soon. Guests do not always show up on time and we wait (within reason) once it does not interfere with other bookings. As time passed and I still could not reach you via phone I emailed again at 11am (2 hours after your ride time) to let you know that it would no longer be possible to wait as a ride out that late would affect our afternoon bookings. I finally received a call at 3pm from your hotel concierge. She simply stated that you wanted to reschedule.
I explained to your concierge that you never communicated to us your wish to reschedule prior to the ride time. I also informed her of our 24hour cancellation policy that you were aware of and that you simply did not show up. I explained to her that we denied other interested customers due to your reserved spots that morning. Guests that don’t show up and request a reschedule goes against our 24hour notice cancellation policy. I let your concierge know that despite the situation, I would accommodate in rescheduling your ride even offering options for days and time. This was not done through any coercion from your concierge. I facilitated you in this way, went against our policy and you have thrown it back in our face.
With regards to your private picnic, it is supplied to us at a cost, and you chose not to show up. I let your concierge know that as I was accommodating two additional spots at no charge, it would not be possible to supply an additional picnic. This is not being cheap, and these are not the actions of a company that is greedy or only thinks about the money. We patiently waited for you and we rescheduled your ride. We are a small business and have limits.
On Monday the day of your rescheduled ride, you were very polite and thanked me for rescheduling you. You even apologized for assuming the tour had been canceled because you had the experience of showing up at a different tour operator for an ATV ride and you were disappointed that it had been canceled without you being notified. Perhaps the ATV tour company are the ones that refused to refund/reschedule you? It certainly wasn’t us.
Tevin was the guide that had waited patiently for you on Saturday 6th and was also the guide that greeted you on Monday 8th. His curiosity in knowing if you were the “same couple that did not show up” the previous Saturday was in no way meant to be disrespectful and he apologises that it seemed that way. You provided a different name of Melissa on arrival, and he was asking for clarification purposes only.
Pictures that are on our website and social media are ALL from our rides, mostly from guests themselves. If you look through them, you will see that it depicts the beach both with seaweed and without. The sargassum seaweed has become a challenge for the Caribbean, Central and South America, Southern coastal states in the US including Florida. It would be wonderful if we could ensure there was no seaweed along the 2.5miles of coastline that our tours head out to but unfortunately, we don’t currently have those resources.
During your ride and on your return to the stables you and Paul both expressed that you enjoyed the experience. We ask all of our guests on their return if they enjoyed the tour so that if there were/are any issues, we can deal with them immediately, this is basic customer service. Your guide Tevin was of course very appreciative of the tip that you gave him and apologises that his thank you wasn’t heard. Our other guide Jordan that was not your guide but with whom you chatted positively with at the beach was also appreciative of the tip that you gave him. You told him you gave him a tip in case he didn’t receive a tip from his guests. An unusual event given the current circumstance but still a generous gesture from you.
I would recommend that when booking with any other tour companies to look at a few pictures, read the reviews, and familiarize yourself with their cancellation policy. Add in your hotel information so that you can be contacted should you not be checking/receiving mobile calls or emails. If you are not having a positive experience on your tour let the guide or tour operator know especially if they ask so that any issues can be addressed. It is confusing and unproductive to present to us as though you appreciate our assistance, say that you have enjoyed yourself, leave multiple tips and then leave such a review.

I haven’t ridden horses in about 15 years so this was an amazing experience! My husband and I came for our honeymoon and he had never ridden a horse before and he loved it! The horses were such good-tempered. The views of St. Lucia we got while on the ride we’re breathtaking. I love that this is a family owned business. One of my favorite pets was having the 3 dogs who belong to the owners come with us on the ride. They were so friendly and made an already fantastic experience even better. Our tour guide was great. The food on the picnic was out of this world. I loved getting to ride the horses into the ocean. Definitely an experience I will never forget. I highly recommend this experience for anyone traveling to St. Lucia!

Had the best morning of our honeymoon! The stables are very professional, and the guides were great at showing us the ropes. Horses are friendly, calm, and well cared for. This place really has a passion for horses! The views are breathtaking! My wife was actually a bit scared to ride at first but the staff did a great job at calming her nerves and she had a blast!!
