Glorious waterfalls —but a long day if you want to see it all

George our driver was great—-a really smooth and careful driver who was happy to practice his English with us and to help my wife in and out of the car; and we have only superlatives for our tour guide Luca , whose patience and helpful info as he was with us for the entire visit made the experience of the stunning Plitvice waterfalls both unforgettable and comfortable . We are in our 80s and while in very good shape for our age we were a lot slower than other travelers and the surfaces are often uneven and there are lots of steps. Luka always watched to make sure that we were safe and planned the trip at a pace such that we could see everything without being completely exhausted. We also really enjoyed talking with him!! His insights into post-WWII politics were fascinating.

Excellent tour in a beautiful place

The tour I originally booked two months in advance cancelled on me the day before my tour. I had to quickly book with another company and thankfully the Booker Travel Agency came through for me! I had a wonderful time with guide Ivana and driver George! It was a bit of a drive to get to Plitvice National Park but it was well worth it. I really enjoy nature and waterfalls and this was an amazing place for that. I went in September so the water was not as much as in the springtime but still plenty of water and beautiful views. I was surprised my favorite part was the gorgeous colors of the water and the rocks. It was absolutely enchanting! I wish I had more time there! The peace and serenity that the lakes and waterfalls provide was so refreshing. But I didn't feel rushed and took a decent pace. We had a half hour break in the middle of the park to grab a coffee and a bite to eat which was appreciated. The boat ride was also nice and slow so you can take in the sights. Ivana told me a lot of history and information but it never felt like too much or overwhelming. George the driver was funny and drove very safely. We also had a break in the middle of the drive to go to the bathroom and grab a bite to eat. Overall very happy with my experience and the professionalism of the company!

Exploring from Split

We did the private tour from Split. Luka was a fabulous guide, very knowledgeable about the history of Split and the park, which was a bonus on the drive, to learn about the history. The lakes were stunning and made for a great day in a beautiful location. If you are considering the journey from Split we would recommend doing it. We were even there on a rainy day and it was still beautiful. You could consider a group versus private tour. Given the natural. beauty and leisure of the drive and walk, a private tour may not be worth the extra fee. A group tour may work just fine for most.
