Excellent way to discover Sal!

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Cabo Verde. The itinerary covered all the must-see places on Sal, including the Blue Eye at Buracona, Pedra de Lume Salt Crater, Shark Bay, the colorful fishing village of Palmeira and a beautiful small beach stop at the end of the tour, which was a lovely and relaxing way to finish the day. Our guide, Marcio, was outstanding—friendly, humorous and knowledgeable about his island. He shared additional insights into the island’s everyday life, making the experience much more meaningful. The tour was very well organized, with punctual hotel pickup and a great balance of sightseeing and information. Instead of a traditional van, transportation is in an open 4x4 pickup, with some passengers seated inside the cabin and others in the covered rear. It adds to the adventure and is great for enjoying the scenery, although it may not be as comfortable as a van for everyone. We alternated in a very balanced way though. The tour offers excellent value for money. Floating in the salt lake, seeing the lemon sharks in their natural habitat, and ending the day with some time at the beach were unforgettable highlights. The only minor downsides were that some stops felt a little rushed. In particular, the visit to the Pedra de Lume salt crater could have been longer—30 minutes wasn’t really enough to fully enjoy floating in the saline water, showering afterwards and taking photos without feeling hurried. Overall, I highly recommend this tour, especially for first-time visitors to Sal. It offers excellent value for money, covers the island’s main highlights in a single day.

Our guide was a very kind, nice guy. However, his English wasn’t great, and he didn’t strike me as an expert tourist guide, more like a local who had to do the job. So, the questions we asked about history and other details, we got very short and vague answers. We had a good time though.

Nightmare Experience From Unprofessional Union Tour Operator

Firstly there was no communication whatsoever from this tour organisers with no answer to their phone number or email so only got an update on meeting point after I contacted Viator customer care team directly .Secondly to make our experience even more miserable on the day of pick up some bloke called Edgar turned up cracking silly jokes with some of the people in the group waiting outside the hotel and after few expired jokes eventually told me that I’m not of his list and I will have to take this up to his boss as there is nothing he can do . After few calls he said that I need to go with some unregistered local guide as there is no place for us on his vehicles so I ended with my family up in a minibus which took us around island , which luckily turned up to be safe in the end ,but definitely not an experience as advertised on Viator . In conclusion please beware and probably best if you use some more reliable and recognised tour operators.

A very complete experience, you tour the whole island visiting the most interesting places. The guide was very friendly, he shares a lot of information with the group. Going by van is appreciated because of the air conditioning. Highly recommended
