An amazing day. Truly beautiful sights to see. Florencia and David were very knowledgeable and supper helpful. The lunch was basic but oh so flavourful. The views postcard worth.

Switched from premium tour to backpacker quality tour, with no notice and no refund

We booked the “Full Day Tour Piedras Rojas Altiplanic Lagoons Chaxa Lagoon tour” through Viator, which was to be operated by Turismo Chile Tours on Nov. 18. The tour description stated “...we differentiate ourselves by having new and comfortable vehicles,” offering “Rich buffet breakfast, with bread baggets from the free-range eggs, avocado, jams, cakes, infusions, tea, coffee from the coffee maker, milk, fruits and natural juices” and “premium buffet lunch, salads, proteins and meats, wine, juices and water...Coffee beans, tea and infusions, coca tea, chachacoma and other infusions. Red wine and premium white wine.” The tour was not operated by Turismo Chile Tours or an equally premium operator. Instead, we were picked up by a tour operator with an old, dirty van with a cracked windshield and inoperable seat belts. The meals did not include a “rich buffet breakfast” and there was no choice at lunch, just a single pre-assembled jar of pasta salad. There was no wine of any quality. We booked a premium tour and were provided the backpacker version. Do not book with Turismo Chile Tours or you may get handed off to some sub-par operator. I also believe this is a common practice of Viator’s. You’ll notice that many times it is hard to find the name of the tour operator in the Viator descriptions. See photo below of our buffet lunch.

Communication with the guides was perfect about pick up times at the hotel. Great experience. The tour was very informative, we had enough time to enjoy every stop. Breakfast and lunch were delicious, more than we expected. Guides (Anita and Marco) were attentive to everyone and their English is perfect. We highly recommend this tour.
