Too many people on tour due to no available guides. Last half of tour was rushed. Never saw synagogue.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

We regret to hear about your disappointment. Let me address the concerns raised: 1. A group of 18 participants is considered a small group by all international standards. 2. We do not have any issues with licensed guides in Rhodes; perhaps you may have confused us with another destination. 3. The 6–7 hours allocated for this tour are sufficient to avoid feeling rushed. If you prefer to explore entirely at your own pace, we recommend booking a private rather than a shared tour. 4. Synagogues have never been listed among the stops of this tour. Your refund request has been declined by Viator, as all services were delivered in full and all sites listed in the itinerary were visited. For future bookings, we strongly recommend basing your expectations on the published tour description and inclusions rather than personal assumptions. Safe travels.

Lindos, ceramics+ & Old Town, a great day!

Bernadette_W, Jun 2025
Had a great day with Johanna & Dimitri. We saw some great things, had enough free time to explore and all the locations were very good. The bonus was to be picked up, appreciated that very much!

We covered a lot of ground!

Terrible. Waste of money

Philippa_B, Oct 2024
I paid $319.74 AUD for my husband and I for this tour. Basically, what we got was bus ride from the Ship to Lindos... Yes, our tour guide Joanna gave us a little history along the way on the 1 hour bus trip. Stopping for a 15-minute pottery lesson and olive and honey tasting. We were given crouton size bread with a toothpick and a tiny plastic container to share between 20 people, samples of olive oil... Honestly, pathetic. When we finally arrived at Lindos, we were basically dumped after a 2-minute discussion on a meeting point in about an hour. As lunch was not included, we basically had time to eat and half an hour walk around before making our way back on the bus. We then drove back ( 1 hour) to the old town, where she talked while she continued to walk. She did not use a microphone, so most of the 20 people could not hear her as she marched on. Not once did she give anyone a chance to take photos. Then we wasted about another half an hour doing wine tasting with was served with 4 olives and a dry piece of bread... We should have paid for a taxi to Lindos and back and walked through the old town on our own, and seen so much more. Seriously, stay away from the tour. Not one person had anything good to say about it, apart from the lunch at Lindos which was not included in the price.

We regret to hear that our bestselling tour didn’t meet your expectations. Let me take a moment to address your concerns: 1. This 6-hour small group tour is priced at €97 per person, including pottery workshop, olive oil, honey, and wine tasting. We’re not sure how this compares to Australian standards, but by European or American standards, it’s considered quite reasonable. 2. It seems much of your disappointment might stem from expecting a private tour, which you mentioned right at pickup from the cruise terminal. Please note, private tours usually have the word "PRIVATE" in their title and come with a significantly higher price tag. 3. That’s correct - here in Greece, we use bread and toothpicks for oil sampling. No, we don’t drink it from glasses or bottles so far😄 4. In Lindos, we offer two options: a) For those eager to climb to the Acropolis, the guide leads the way. b) For those who prefer to stay grounded, they enjoy free time in the village. The choice was yours. 5. Your group had 18 people, which by most tourist standards qualifies as a small group—no headsets required. Since yours was the only feedback about not hearing the guide and since health of our guests is our top priority, we would kindly advise to consider having your hearing checked by an otolaryngologist. 6. This tour includes one hour of free time in both Lindos and the Old Town. Your comment about not having enough time for pictures leaves us scratching our heads. 7. We’re not sure if Australia has specific wine tasting rituals, but here in Europe, olives and croutons are popular pairings. Maybe we’ll make wine tasting optional from 2025, with an additional fee of €20-€30, like most of our colleagues do. 8. Yes, you would have paid about the same for a simple taxi ride to Lindos. That’s without a certified guide, pottery workshop, wine tasting, etc. We recommend comparing next time for a better perspective. 9. As for the rest of your group, yours was the only negative review, which means you were surrounded by 16 happy Americans. 😊 Remember, love and beauty are always in the eye of the beholder. Safe travels!

We’ve got the most out of Rhodes!

Yulia_V, Dec 2022
Our family of 8 were on a Mediterranean cruise in December 2022 and were looking at excursion options in the ports to visit Weighing up the cruise ship options against alternatives, and comparing what was included for the money, we decided to book with Viator as they had excellent reviews and the tour itinerary included all the top attractions plus wine tasting, olive oil tasting and lunch. We were so pleased with our choice. Our friendly guide Diana and driver Nikos did a wonderful job. Diana’s knowledge of all the places we visited was amazing, the tour was very personalised and the smaller group made the whole visit go much more smoothly and no time waiting around for people. The driver Nikolas was punctual arriving and got us back to the cruise ship in good time for our timetable

An unforgettable experience

Woody_P, Dec 2022
Because our hotel did not offer such tours we booked with Viator. Our guide Sula and driver Georgos made the tour an unforgettable experience. Sula was an expert guide; friendly and very knowledgeable. Georgos, the driver took us safely and comfortably to all the places we visited. We have already recommended this company to the friends that are planning to visit Rhodes in 2023.

Response from Host, Dec 2022

We are glad to hear that you liked our services and enjoyed visiting the sights that our island has to offer. Thank you for your 5 star endorsement and review, which mean much to us. If you visit Rhodes in the future, we would love to see you again. Best regards from sunny Rhodes!

Superbly organised and curated tour.

Anna_G, Dec 2022
This was an extraordinary full day tour of Rhodes that was superbly organised and curated We never waited in a line once and we went everywhere, even into Grand Master palace. Our tour guide had a great sense of humour was an expert on Greek history. The small group tour was easily managed and the buss was clean and very well air-conditioned. Lunch was very good indeed, wine was excellent. I don't know how the other tour operators work in Rhodes, but I really don't think we could have had a better tour than this. My only criticism was that it would have been nice to see more of every day Greek life. Despite this it is highly recommended!

Response from Host, Dec 2022

Thank you Anna, It was a pleasure to work with you. Thank you for your review and criticism. When you come next time we will pay much more attention to every day life of locals. Best regards from sunny Rhodes!

Our best Greek friend

Jim_G, Dec 2022
My retired grandparents booked a Mediterranean cruise and invited me and my sister to join them. To be completely honest, I was not completely ecstatic about Rhodes but was happy to go along for the ride. Boy, did Greece prove me wrong. Rhodes was by far my favourite destination among the ports included in our cruise, and I truly believe that it is mostly due to our guide, Ioanna. She was absolutely fantastic. Me and my sister were in a tour group of mostly seniors and she was as patient as a saint considering how very loud we can be. She had a great attitude, and was very knowledgeable, warm, and fun. Being the eager beaver that I am, I ate up every little piece of information she had to offer and asked her many silly questions that she was so patient to answer in details. She was incredibly thorough in her description of the city's landmarks, and we were absolutely astounded by the beautiful architecture and the history of each place of interest. She also provided much information on Greek pottery when we visited a cosy ceramic factory, their show was brief but amazing . Please note: If you are getting on in your years, you will be tired. Both of us are young and could keep up just fine, but we definitely were ready to get some rest when we got back on our ship. Anyway, Ioanna is not only a walking encyclopedia, and our best Greek friend as well.

Response from Host, Dec 2022

Thank you for your time and such a detailed review. We are happy to hear that you liked our services. All the best wishes from sunny Rhodes! We are looking forward to your repeat visit.

Not so “Lavish” tour!

Terri_N, Sep 2022
This tour was not what we expected. It was the most expensive tour and we had a group of 10 people and had an additional 10 people join our group so I would not call 20 people a mini group tour. All of our other tours were much less expensive and private. I wouldn’t call it “Lavish” either. The lunch sandwich and banana were definitely not lavish and most of us didn’t eat it. Also we saw NO castles. They should explain the amount of walking and trekking through the woods it is. The oil tasting was a tiny piece of bread on a toothpick and getting in line to walk through and dip the bread. It was not up to our expectations or what we have experienced on many other Viator tours. It was not a bad tour, just not what we expected. Our tour guide was knowledgeable but not very warm and fuzzy. Others on our tour expressed the same thoughts about this tour.

Response from Host, Jun 2023

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience with our tour did not meet your expectations. However, we do recommend that all travellers carefully read the tour description before booking to ensure that they fully understand the group size and other details. Our tour clearly states that the maximum group size is 32 members, and we stand by our description. More often we depart as a group of 19 members. Regarding your comment about the vehicle, working with smaller groups we use industry-standard terms to describe our vehicles. Our 20-seater ( 19 + Driver) Mercedes Benz is commonly referred by its producer to as a mini-coach. As for private tours, if you, as you say, are used to book them, why did you choose a shared tour in Rhodes, one of the most beautiful and interesting island in Greece?? Lavish experiences usually cost a bit more than the standard ones. BTW we did offer you an upgrade to a private version of the tour, but we understand that the extra cost of 15 EUR per person may not have been within your lavish travel budget. We would like to clarify that there are no woods to trek in Lindos, Old Town, or the winery. We take pride in providing a high-quality experience, you may call us old-fashioned, but yes, we use bread tasting olive oil and glasses tasting wine, not conversely. We were surprised to hear that the other 10 members of your group expressed the same thoughts about the tour as yours.. that’s probably why they tipped your «not very warm and fuzzy» guide generously and sent us glowing reviews. However, we appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve our tours in the future and we wish you all the best in your travels.
