Itinerary

Depart your Rhodes hotel by air-conditioned vehicle and travel to the Church of St. Francis (St. Francisco) near the medieval walls of UNESCO-listed Rhodes Old Town.

Hop out, and set off through the Gate of St. Athanasios into the cobbled lanes of Europe’s oldest inhabited medieval town. Stroll down the alleyways, admiring the ancient, medieval, Ottoman, and Italian buildings as your guide shares their history. Learn about the town’s past, discovering how it became a stronghold for the Knights of St. John over 500 years ago.

Trace the Street of the Knights past the knights’ inns, and admire the 14th-century Palace of the Grand Masters. Then, get time for some independent shopping. Meander through the lanes and browse the shops selling handicrafts and other trinkets.

Next, rejoin your guide for a traditional Greek dinner at a local restaurant, with alcoholic drinks available to purchase (own expense).

Afterward, walk to nearby Mandraki harbor where legend says the Colossus of Rhodes stood. Board a sightseeing boat, and enjoy a harbor cruise. Admire the illuminated old town and the harbor’s famous deer statues bathed in floodlights against the night sky.

After the cruise, disembark and finish with a hotel drop-off.
