    Riding around higuey

    The company was excellent when it came to communication. I wasn’t able to choose my resort from the drop down choices in the viator section. I added my location pick up in the comments section of the booking process. The tour company answered my calls and text in a timely manner. The morning of our excursion. We met Nelson. He was very kind however, he couldn’t speak English very well. We used a translation app a few times to ask questions. We went to Higuey and were shown the cathedral. This is where he we were greeted by another “tour guide” who asked for a donation to the church as well as $10 for the tour. I was confused because I paid for the tour and Nelson said he was our guide and suddenly he explained he was then just the driver. the church tour was included in the price so, I did not understand the additional cost. We ended up giving a $1 donation and $10 to the “guide” but I was not pleased about that. After, we briefly drove past the original cathedral which we could barely see. The market was next, we walked through the market where we met another “guide” along with Nelson. We were taken to gift shops and eventually asked to be taken back to the resort. We also gave the market tour guide a dollar. It wasn’t so much a tour as it was driving around with Nelson and meeting his friends along the way. If you’re looking for a informative tour, this isn’t the one for you. If you’re just looking to get off the resort and ride around for a couple hours then book it. Nelson was kind, but tour guide, he is not.
