What a fantastic day! This was the best wildlife sanctuary or zoo that we’ve ever visited. Beautifully laid out with animals in their natural habitat, areas designated for talks, and a comfortable place for enjoying foods made this a top notch experience.

Read signs carefully for directors. Also check ahead for animal feeding times. Enjoyed seeing all the Australian animals especially the birds. It's hot in Port Douglas so dress appropriately. There is a simple cafe where you can rest and buy drinks and snacks. No aircon but lots of fans.

The Port Douglas Wildlife Habitat was far more than we expected and a welcome surprise!
Parrots landed on our shoulders; we were able to handfeed kangaroos and geese; and the selection of Australian animals to observe was much appreciated! The Predator Crocodile walkway, however, was under repair. Bummer! Other crocs were available for viewing.
A very enjoyable experience and well worth the admission price.
Ps. The ticket is good for 24 hours and we were able to leverage this due to a change in our schedule.

Fabulous place to visit. Small and intimate. Really recommend. Birds flying around, crocs, koalas and kangaroos. Just great!
Jack_F, Oct 2025
Really enjoyed the koala exhibit, nocturnal habitat, variety of birds, wandering emu, wandering wallabies. Kangaroos and Cassowaries were not very photogenic. All in all, a pleasant few hours spent there

We went in the afternoon - but I would recommend going earlier to watch all the animal presentations. It was a great day out, especially with our toddler as he loved feeding the kangaroos and seeing the animals up close.

Great activity if you haven’t seen any wildlife via your own hikes, drives or animal specific tours. You get to see most of the Australian animals.

An aggressive couple of cockatoos will bite. Small wallaby area. Bird area is real nice and pictures with a koala is cool.

Thank you for visiting Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas and sharing your honest feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed our bird area and the opportunity to meet one of our koalas—they’re always a highlight!
We appreciate your note about the cockatoos; while they can be spirited at times, our team works closely with them to ensure safe interactions. We’ll certainly share your feedback with our animal care team as we continuously refine the visitor experience.
The wallabies love meeting guests in their cozy space, and we hope you had a chance to hand-feed them! If you’re back in the area, we’d love to welcome you for even more wildlife encounters.

The Wildlife Habitat is lovely. There was a wide range of ages from little children to older couples. The staff were wonderful -- both with information and a helpful attitude. Worthwhile to see various local birds, koalas, wallabies (can even hand feed).

We booked this quite a way ahead of our cruise date. We understood that we would need to make our own way from where the tender landed, by taxi. However, on the pier was a representative from the park, who said we could go by free coach transfer. This meant we were there earlier than the prebooked time, bonus.
We had a wonderful day upclose with birds, koalas, and feeding kangaroos. It is a beautiful setting. All the birds and animals were chilled. It was very easy to get around and see everything.

Don’t miss it! It was the highlight of our trip. We actually were able to play with and feed the kangaroos. The birds were beautiful. The different areas were so authentic. There was even a nocturnal area. Emus walked around freely as did amazing birds. Can’t say enough good things about it.!

So many animals and birds to see. Pictures with koalas, crocodiles are available to purchase. Some steps to climb to higher areas. Be sure to look high and low, listen for sounds to aid in finding birds. Many different areas to explore. This is self guided so take your time. Be sure to buy some kangaroo food, they are extremely gentle when eating.

We scheduled this on one of our more relaxed days. The canopies provided shade as we took in all the wildlife. Highlight was feeding the kangaroos and seeing joeys

A small wildlife park with lots of native Australian animals and birds.I finally got to see a cassowary that I’ve heard so much about.
You can buy food at the entrance and feed the kangaroos, you can pay extra for a photo experience with an animal or swim with the salties (crocs) whereby you get into their pool but your separated from them by a plastic partition. If your in Port Douglas and would like to see some Australian native animals this will give you a small taste of them and the birds are very tame and will jump on your shoulder happily

Had an amazing experience. Blessed that I got to get so up close and personal with some Australia’s wildlife.

The talk on the Cassowary and feeding.
Sitting with the birds and them landing on our shoulders whilst we ate lunch.
Bala_s, Nov 2024
Seeing kangaroo and and other animals in the wild, learning about them and, feeding them was fun. It was surprising to see kangaroo relishing carrot.
The lighting around the text display in the darkened nocturnal animals section could have been better, as it was difficult to read the label text in the darkness under poor lighting condition.

like the open space concept for the birds & ducks to roam around. the croc talk was pretty good, prefer the croc feeding session to be more engaging and more actions. nonetheless, a good zoo to visit if you are around
CeLynn_P, Jul 2024
Spent an enjoyable couple of hours in this animal park. Finally had the opportunity to see the elusive Cassowary! Koalas were sleeping of course. There’s a lot of beautiful birds. A bunch of kangaroos and we saw one with a joey in its pouch!

Awesome swimming with the croc's! Cannot recommend enough. Informative and captivating. Short time but sweet, well worth it!

We really enjoyed the wildlife habitat. The areas for the animals seemed well designed and provided a good amount of space for the animals, so there wasn't a zoo feel to the place. The kangaroos were amazing and definitely didn't shy away from being fed or having their chins scratched. The birds in the Cafe area were super friendly and also enjoyed getting scratches and cuddling on your shoulder. The croc feeding was very educational and was fun to see them and learn more about them. There were some rogue pelicans that apparently drop into the exhibit regularly, be careful around them, they aren't friendly and chased us and snapped at us when we tried to get around them. I didn't realize a pelican bill was sharp, but apparently it is. We just tried to walk around them and they got aggressive , so if you see them there stay clear.
The staff was all very friendly, the facilities were well maintained and the animals seemed happy in their environment. Definitely worth the time to visit. And get some food for the kangaroos in the gift shop before heading in. They're very food driven and you'll have a much more interesting experience if you have treats.

It was a fun packed visit seeing all the animals and the educational presentations. Plenty to see and do interactions with the birds.
Rachel_Y, Jan 2024
I came from a cruse ship and was able to get transport from marina
Lots of interactions particularly with the birds and kangaroos
We ended up spending 4 hrs there
Do put on spray to stop being bitten

Great place to see all the animals up close. We enjoyed feeding the kangaroos and got to hold a koala! Lots of friendly birds that flew up to my husband’s shoulder! We recommend visiting this habitat!
slana497, Apr 2023
Mostly liked it.. really happy with the koala holding, and some of the exhibits such a the kangaroos appearing to have enough places to hide if they didn’t want attention and more shade.
But I did notice that some of the habitats for the animals looked very sad. The tree kangaroo made me incredibly sad… caged with a barren environment and basically staring into a dark corner, for at least ten minutes that we were waiting for it to do anything.. it was incredibly sad to watch it look like it’s given up Hope. That was heartbreaking. Some of the birds showed signs of stress as well.. feather plucking on couple of parrots etc.
the koalas got a lot of love though, which made me happy. I hope this place works a little harder to try to give better environment to some of their other animals though.

Excellently built for the visitor to experience much of the wildlife of Australia! Many area with lots of space for koalas, kangaroos, crocodiles, etc. they have quite the variety of birds as well! A fun visit, at a great price!
Teresa_T, Feb 2023
A wonderful visit to see beautiful Australian animals & birds! You can tell they are well cared for & loved able to roam around.
Leonie_G, Jan 2023
We had breakfast with the birds and then spent the morning wondering the habitat. What a wonderful experience, being so up close and able to interact with the wildlife. The breakfast was delicious and the staff friendly, supportive and informative. Feeding the Koalas was an extrat delight after breakfast, highly recommend the breakfast with the birds for adults and kids and the whole park for everyone as well. A beautifully maintained facilitiate

This is a beautiful wildlife park. It's a gorgeous setting for the many animals and birds. I had a photo taken with a gorgeous yellow and orange rainbow lorrikeet, an uncommon colouring. You can hand feed the roos here. I highly recommend visiting. The resudent birds that greet you at the entrance and the cafe are a delight. I will be returning as they give you a 5 day pass to return. Bonus.Just gorgeous. ❤️🥰❤️🐊🐨
