I had an excellent experience with my guide, Bassil, at Petra. He was engaging, deeply knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the history and significance of the site. He brought the ruins to life with context and storytelling, without ever overwhelming or rushing the experience.
Just as important, he was attentive and adaptable - happy to answer questions, adjust pace, and point out details I would have completely missed on my own. I left Petra feeling like I truly understood what I was seeing, not just that I had walked through it.
I would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Petra, especially if you value insight, professionalism, and a guide who genuinely enhances the experience.

Bassil was such a wonderful guide - friendly and personable. Our conversations were so enlightening, not only about Petra, but Jordan, and the differences between our countries, be it education, homes, energy and more. Highly, highly recommend.
As a side note, we travelled during March 2026, and nearly had Petra to ourselves due to reduced tourism due to the conflict in the Middle East - we felt very safe and would encourage others that are considering a visit to go.

We had an excellent experience with our private tour guide Bassil in Petra. From the very start, he was professional, punctual, and extremely knowledgeable about the history, culture, and hidden details of the site. Walking through the Siq and seeing the Treasury with his explanations truly brought Petra to life in a way we would have missed on our own.
He paced the tour perfectly, making sure we saw the major highlights while also tailoring the experience to our interests and energy level. He was attentive, patient, and always happy to answer questions, offering insightful stories and context throughout the day. His local knowledge also helped us avoid the busiest crowds and discover some quieter viewpoints and photo spots.

We did this with a 5 year old and 3 year old (my 5 yo had a broken collarbone at the time and was in a sling). We loved it, wonderful experience. Words can’t describe Petra well enough, you have to try it for yourself. But it is amazing, and people are incredible friendly. Thanks to our guide Bassil who was knowledgeable and patient. Try the camels and donkeys if you can too!

This trip is well worth it. Our tour guide was Bassil he was a local and explained everything we needed to know.
He organised the itinerary. Explained what we will see and how to get there.
He also gave us an abundant amount of information, stories, history, culture and religion explaining the area and its significance
Doing this tour without basil would have been like seeing a movie without sound.

Bassil was a terrific tour guide and was able to show us sites and viewpoints that we probably wouldn't have found otherwise. He was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. He cover the part of Patra that lads up to the stairs that climb to the Monastery, which you can then do on your own.

It involves a lot of walking but horses and golf carts are available when needed. Bassil is knowledgeable about the history and went out of his way to help my disabled husband.

Bassil contacted me before the meet and met us on time in our hotel reception. He took us into the site and explained lots of history as we walked through the site. Also explained other things to do for the rest of the day and where exactly to find access to these. So after he left us we trekked to the monastery and then to the sacrifice point. We did most of the site in 8 hours. Not to he missed and this was a great way to do this with a guide for the first half and then take your time finishing off the site.

I'll start my review by stating that I am a solo female traveler from the United States on my first trip to Jordan. I was a little nervous about visiting, especially with the political state of Gaza.....but it was SO SAFE and everyone was very friendly and helpful! Bassil was WONDERFUL, even picking me up from a hotel outside of the usual radius! He provided so much knowledge about Petra and took amazing photos for me! Not only is he a great guide, but a wonderful person and so fun to talk to! I was on limited time and Bassil made sure I saw the important things before I had to catch a taxi to the airport. 100% reccomend Bassil, best Petra guide!

My wife and I enjoyed our guided tour of Petra with Bassil. Bassil was friendly and informative and took us on a good route beyond the Treasury that provided sweeping views especially of the theater. At the conclusion of the tour, he showed us where to catch a free shuttle bus back to the parking lot at the visitor center, which was appreciated.

Bassil was our guide. He was friendly and knowledgeable and paced the tour well. He had good suggestions for how to structure the tour in order to get good views and to avoid sites that weren't as worth the time. He helped us to navigate the Bedouin merchants as well.

Our trip to Petra was truly a memorable experience thanks to Basil, we have been to Petra before, but this visit was truly exceptional!
He was extremely knowledgeable, impeccable communication skills and also engaging especially with our teenage kids. In addition to covering the main attractions of Petra, he also leveled up the tour by taking us off the beaten path to see some of the hidden gems of Petra. He was one of our favorite your guides we've had from all our travel.
