The views of the bay are amazing! We didn’t get into the mangrove area because the tide was too low. But the guide was very good and accommodating. For example, we got pretty tired, so he suggested we paddle to a restaurant where we could rest for lunch. Fantastic food and a relaxing beach.

We kayak across a very beautiful bay over into some mangrove areas and went up a river a bit To get to the location is about a 20 minute walk through cobblestone Street from the port

Amazing tour, but Listing Incorrect

Loved the tour! Unfortunately the Viator listing says that the tour includes snorkeling and snacks at the beach you kayak to and that was 100% not part of the package on the tour companies end. I would recommend booking with Paraty Explorer directly for clarity.

Unnecessary long puddling...

Unnecessary long puddling which doesn’t worth the effort. finally we visited only one mediocre beach easily accessible by land. Mangrove was interesting, but could be quicker reached from the starting point. Be ready to strangle on the way back as the current takes you away from the land. Not smth very difficult, but we preferred to be warned about it and given better tecnics to cope. PS we are pretty physically fit couple 😜 conclusion: don’t lose you time unless you are a big fun of puddling PS positive side: our guide juliano was a nice and very friendly person, speaking fluent English although we booked the trip in Portuguese 🤣

Thank you for your detailed review. It's important that people realise this is a paddling tour before they book. The paddling is an important part of the tour and we specify that the paddling time is normally 2 1/2 hours with breaks. It sounds like you had more challenging conditions than normal when paddling back. The wind and tides can make it more demanding and, of course we cannot control unpredictable Nature. The route we take will also depend on weather and sea conditions plus your paddling disposition! We try and stop at the best beaches possible by kayak. We always monitor weather and sea conditions and do not operate the tour if there is a safety risk. The conditions in Paraty Bay are almost always perfect for first time or beginner paddlers. We recommend it for people who are curious about trying out a new activity. To attract more people to the sport we use top quality sea kayaks and paddling equipment and our guides have American Canoe Association (ACA) training. But we understand that Kayaking is not for everyone! And we are sorry to hear paddling is not your 'cup of tea' (or not your beach as we say in Brazil!)

We had such an amazing day! Immersed in the beauty of Paraty! Newual our guide was so knowledgeable about the whole local area and really passionate about nature and preserving it. Really kept us safe in a very relaxed, fun engaging way! Only downside, was that Newual didn't have time between jobs to come with us for some well deserved lunch after! Thanks for a super cool day in every way!

Michael was a great guide, very knowledgeable about the area and Paraty history. He geared the tour to our ability so we kayaked non-stop. His equipment was top notch, not the sit on top, plastic sea kayaks. We would highly recommend this tour!!
