Your full-day excursion begins with pickup from your Palenque hotel at 7am, when you’ll board an air-conditioned vehicle destined for the Metzabok Lagoon.

Following a 3-hour drive, you’ll arrive in the heart of the protected area, framed by the eastern mountains of Chiapas. Learn about the native flora and fauna, which includes jaguars, harpy eagles, and quetzals, and walk on trails that pass through evergreen forests and past 27 different lagoons.

Take a canoe ride through the wilderness and embark on a gentle hike to El Mirador cave, home to ancient Mayan shrines and cave paintings, before enjoying traditional Mexican food with locals.
