Itinerary

Journey into the lush interior of Bali as you explore the island’s rich cultural and historical heritage on this day trip covering some of its top attractions. Whether you’re in search of stunning natural scenery, a taste of local customs or a chance to learn about Balinese culture, this excursion is for you.

Start your day with a pickup from your Bali hotel (selected areas). Your exact time is verified at the time your tour is reconfirmed. Then begin your trip by comfortable coach on an exploration of a variety of sites.

Head first to the village of Blahbatuh, where the island’s last surviving gong-maker plies his trade creating Balinese musical instruments. Check out the village factory where you watch the production of a whole Gamelan Orchestra, an instrument composed of small bells and larger gongs. You also hear about the process of how island residents forge the metal pieces for these intricate instruments.

Proceed to Bali’s Archaeological Museum, also called Gedung Arca. The museum’s collections contain a wealth of historical and pre-historical artifacts dating back to the Stone Age. Check out bronze bells from the 15th century and admire giant stone sarcophagi, dating back to 500 BC, that once held members of the island’s royal class.

Continue next to the plantation at Sri Batu, where you investigate the various plants being cultivated and learn about their many medicinal and culinary uses from your guide. You can also purchase a food souvenir during your visit from the plantation’s offerings of coffee, cloves, tropical fruit, and spices.

Your excursion then moves on to the cooler mountains of Kintamani, where you have a chance to observe the dramatic Mount Batur. You may be able to see black lava descending from the crater of this active volcano, descending down toward the sparkling waters of Lake Batur, which lies at the mountain’s base. Grab lunch (at your own expense) at a local restaurant along the shores of this amazing lake, taking time to enjoy its crescent shape and stunning steep crater walls that surround it.

After lunch, continue to Penglipuran, where you have time to explore a nearby bamboo plantation. Learn about the rich customs of Balinese village life during your village visit, then proceed to your final stop at Bukit Jati for afternoon tea or coffee served among the area’s lush rice fields and views of the ocean beyond.

Our guide Oka gave us such a full and interesting tour, really helping us understand Bali’s history and culture. The itinerary was thorough and varied with some flexibility to add a stop at a silver mgr. it was a full day, extremely well spent. We also appreciated the professionalism of the tour co, our guide and our driver. We highly recommend!

Wadee was good guide. You get to see a lot of Bali. Good to do first few days. Coffee place was nice and seeing the workplaces near Ubud was cool. u have to pay for lunch, but the place Wadee took me (Panca Yoga Restaurant) was a buffet and they asked for 125k. I only had 100k and they accept. Food ok

Our guide Windra was kind enough to rearrange his itinerary, to leave out places we had already been and to add things we hadn't seen the previous day on our similar Highlights tour. Started out with the Barong Dance Show -- very enjoyable! Then lunch at a place called Rapuan Cili -- very good food, good prices, and a lovely view of green fields and a blue swimming pool below. Then we visited a traditional village called Penglipuran. We were allowed to go into a family's home and see their humble circumstances and backyard garden. From there we saw the community temple, then walked beyond the town, to see the bamboo forest. After that, we were supposed to go to a scenic lookout to view the terraced rice fields however, we were taken to a non-tourist overlook that was overgrown and smelly. Then we got dropped off at a huge jewelry store, when we were expecting to see jewelry-making craftspeople. The day was great for the most part, but the last 2 stops were very unnecessary -- we would rather have gone back to our hotel early..

We were hoping to get a real experience of seeing Bali and some of this tour fulfilled it. There were several stops at places where the locals did arts like textiles, painting and wooden sculptures, describing how they made the artifacts and we had to basically walk through these places in hopes of buying something. Some of these places were interesting in terms of seeing how they made their products but other places like the place with paintings and making of silver jewellery was a waste of time and was clearly just a stop to shop. The coffee plantation and village we stopped at was very informative and great because they were not typical touristy stops and the village really gives a true authentic glimpse of the Balinese village life. The stop at the volcano and the lunch was also a nice visit. Some of this tour was really educational but some of it seemed too much of a shopping trip and it could have been shorter were it not for a few of these stops. Overall, its worth going on.

lots of tourist in Bali but few are taking tours . I was the only one on this tour . This should have presented opportunities to customize. Instead rushed through and dropped off at the airport 2 hours early. As DPS does not permit checking in until 3 hours prior to flight time I had a long wait at the airport. There is no seating in the precheckin area. People just sit on metal rails or lie down on the tile floor.

I found this trip very disappointing. It seemed for 3 hours of the trip I was taken to many places with an expection of buying, silver, paintings, wood carvings, coffee and clothing/handbags. As a tourist I do understand there is a need for us to visit places for 5 different places in one day is too many and the time could have been used taking me to see the sights. I did enjoy the volcano view and also the coffee/tea tasting but I don't think this trip was value for money and then other trips we did were better. I wouldn't recommend this trip

The tour guide was great! He asked about my interests and managed to get around so many places over the day. I saw the batik, jewellery, wood carving all being made at different places. The mount Batur view was absolutely beautiful but my real highlight was the coffee tasting!! Thank you !!

There were a few stop overs already covered in the bali monkey forest tour. This was a full day tour which ended in a half day. The tour guide hardly spoke and slept in the car throughout. He only spoke when he was asked questions. We did not enjoy this tour.

Lindsay R, May 2015
As I was the only one on this tour the guide allowed me to go where I wanted. You do feel a bit used on these tours in Bali as you are dropped off at successive places silver factory, coffee farm and then a wood carving place and then followed around until you buy something. Tour companies must be on commission. However, i can see that they appreciate purchses as it goes straight to the local people. apart from that, wonderful!

Tad M, May 2015
As the day went on it became more amazing! We started out going to a few businesses as stops to see the process of jewelry making, wood carving and musical instrument construction. The day went on to exploration of a village, bamboo forest and, my favorite, the coffee plantation! The young man was very knowledgeable about ginger, lemon grass and, of course, COFFEE! Even as a non coffee drinker, I was impressed. There was a variety of tea and coffee flavors. Luwak and Bali coffee are delicious! We had lunch overlooking Mt. Batur with a great view. The only thing was we had only one restaurant to eat at and it was pretty pricey. We finished the day having tea with a view of the rice fields around sunset. Both the driver and guide were very nice and knowledgeable. Great job!

Maxim Y Kraynov K, May 2015
The tour guide was very likeable, spoke very good English and answered lots of questions with deep knowledge of the subject. As it always is with tours, guides are trying to make a buck off you by referring you to various shops, but you can just say no to the upsales and go straight to the interesting stuff. 7.5 hours of enjoyable fun!

Coffe farm was interesting especially hearing about the mongoose that eat coffee beans then poop them. The pooped coffee beans are collected and turned into coffee - at least that's what I thought the tour guide said

I enjoyed this trip however the tour guides English wasn't that great and he didn't seem to have much knowledge. The place that we were taken to lunch wasn't that great. I loved going to the village and seeing how some of the locals live. Worth doing.

Wonderful tour, loved the guide and driver. Very knowledgable, friendly, accommodating. Gave me a great flavor of the diversity of the island regions as well as a good primer in the history, religious practices, culture, agriculture, villages, temples, arts, etc. I was in Bali for a CEO retreat and had one day of free time, so this was the perfect overview. Thanks for a great experience!
