Both locations were better than we could imagine. Be sure to take the time to go through both museums. The theatre was definitely a highlight for us..

Had a wonderful driver, Nico(?) not sure of spelling. He was on time, professional and friendly. He told us about the area and made us feel very comfortable and welcomed on our first trip to Greece.

Seeing all the statues that they found. The theater in Epidaurus is also the most well maintained that we've seen in all of Greece. It was amazing.

The sites were amazing. However, the description in the tour was "Our English speaking driver will narrate the history of each site during the transfer"....our driver, although very friendly and accommodating, gave us no historical background on either site whatsoever, which was very disappointing. This is something you absolutely expect when choosing a Viator tour, and it lessened the experience for us tremendously. As an aside, I have found on numerous Viator excursions the description was inaccurate, and things listed to be covered/visited were not.

If you wanted a more detailed tour you could book our relevant service on Viator that includes transfer and licensed guide at both sites and of course with a more expensive rate than the one you booked and confirmed.

The sights were incredible however our guide struggled with English. I was expecting more storytelling especially given the history of the ancient sights. The few questions that we had needed to be looked up in google by the guide. Felt more like a taxi service.

If you look carefully at your voucher for this service, you had booked a roundtrip transfer to both sites with an English speaking driver (NO guide). Our driver who provided your the tour is an archaeologist with English studies, so the communication problem probably appeared due to different accents between you and him.
With regards to the storytelling during the transfers, please note that our driver is NOT a licensed guide so according to Greek legislation he could only provide you the information you finally got.
If you wanted a more detailed tour you could book our relevant service on Viator that includes transfer and licensed guide at both sites and of course with a more expensive rate than the one you booked and confirmed.

We selected Katakolo from the viator web site & selected trip & pick up at Port. We sent the day, ship to the company. They went to a different port than the one the ship arrived at. Although they did nothing they would not refund the trip cost. Viator was no help. They have lost a customer and customer service was no help.

Dear Frank,
Unfortunately your review is totally unrealistic and we feel very dissapointed about it!
The service you had booked was from Nafplio port, not Katakolo that is located 215km far away from Nafplio.
There is no day tour on Viator to Mycenae & Epidaurus from Katakolo, since the distances are terribly long, so it doesn't make any sense for any traveller to visit these sites in one day from there.
You never noticed that you had booked a wrong tour, even the previous day that we sent you again a message that our driver will be waiting for you at the port of Nafplio.
The same day of the tour you called us complaining that you couldn't find our driver, so at that time you realized your mistake and you were requesting full refund that was not possible since your cancellation was the very last minute.
When even Viator declined your request about the refund, you disputed your credit card's transaction for this booking and now your credit card's company will decide who's fault was that, even if it's more than obvious.
We hope you to be more carefull and respectfull at your next bookings.

The driver was nice, but there was no tour- it was just being driven to places. The fact that there was no personal guide included was listed only at the very bottom of the listing, far away from the main listing. This is not a tour, this is just paying for a drive. Somewhat deceptive practice, choose another provider.

Socrates was our driver to Mycenae and Epidaurus. During the drive to the sites he was very informative on the history of Mycenae and Epidaurus. He is such a personable, down to earth, and knowledgeable person. We toured the sites ourselves since we had a No Tourguide option. Having Socrates as our driver was just as good as having a personal tour guide. We had a great experience with him. I would highly recommend him as your driver if you get the no Tour Guide Option.

Our driver arrived early and he was very helpful and informative. He gave us an overview of the landscape, crops and people as well as an understanding of the history of the area. It was relaxing having someone else do the driver as we could focus on Mycenae and Epidaurus and th landscape. We would highly recommend.

Kostas was the name of the person who drove me to Mycenae and Epidaurus and he was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and personable and you will be very lucky if you get him for your tour. He also drove me around Nafplio to show me some of its highlights which I enjoyed very much. Mycenae and Epidaurus were so interesting and we got to Mycenae early enough that I had a lot of the place to myself. This tour was definitely one of the highlights of my time in Greece.

We were happy to find that our tour was only the two of us and the guide. We enjoyed walking through the sites at Epidavorus and Mycenae. An unexpected bonus was visiting 2 castles in Nafplio as well.

This was a personal tour...just the two of us with a tour guide. He picked us up from our tender landing site timely and gave us a context, while driving, regarding where Mycenae is in ancient history and what we would be viewing once we entered the historical site to view on our own. He was waiting for us when we returned to the parking lot. We then proceeded to Epidaurus after being told about how the theater played such a major role in Greek life, particularly this place. Again, we were promptly met, and even better, had a thoughtful cold coffee waiting for us on a very, very hot day. What made this even more special was that our tour guide was very personable and answered our questions about what it was like living in Nafplio compared to a larger city like Athens. We appreciated learning how the ancients lived, as well as making our understanding more personal and current. We so appreciated our tour guide's extra sharing of interesting places while traveling between sites. We highly recommend this tour guide when visiting Nafplio.

We really enjoyed our day in Mycenae and Epidaurus. Our guide, Elias, was very knowledgeable and passionate about Mycenae and Epidaurus and his warm and friendly personality made this a great day out. Our tour group was also treated to an unexpected visit to a cave church and lunch at a local restaurant own expense which was a lovely addition to the day. This tour was taken as a shore excursion and fitted in perfectly with our port time. We would highly recommend this tour.

The tour was convenient, and we enjoyed having a local take us around. But realistically all you're getting is a driver, and we only had about 4 hours not 6, so at each site we were pretty rushed. The sites are incredible, and we could have used a bit more time. The driver was charming and gave us interesting local information, but overall I'm not sure the price is worth it for what could essentially have been a couple of cab rides easy to get and not expensive.

We had a driver and a guide, who picked us up at the ship's dock. The guide spoke perfect English and gave us a description of what we were about to see, but he was not able to join us at the sites, which would have enhanced our experience.

This tour was amazing. Our tour guide was so experience and so knowledgeable about both sites. I cannot remember her name and that is too bad because she was by far the best tour guide we've ever had! I loved all of her stories and she made the trip so interesting. I loved this tour!!
