We did the walking tour of Montreal post-cruise. While we did need to sign up prior to the tour, this was a gratuities-based walking tour. We had 30+ people in our group with one guide. With a group that size, it was extremely hard to hear the guide. She needed to either have a microphone, or there needed to be a smaller group. However, she was extremely engaging and quite knowledgeable!
Also note that this is definitely a walking tour with not a lot of rest stops. We covered almost 4 miles in three hours. The guide was very knowledgeable and took us all around the city, and we feel that we got a good overview of Montreal. But if you have any walking limitations or can’t walk over 3 miles in three hours, then this tour is not for you.
Our guide was absolutely amazing! Sadly, I don't remember his name, but he was a young teacher :) We learned so much about Montreal, heard fascinating stories, and saw hidden gems. The guide engaged with everyone, asked about their stories, and built a personal connection. It was an unforgettable tour of the city and its highlights
Great sightseeing experience in Montreal
We enjoyed seeing different sides of Montreal. The guide was very informative and enthusiastic. He managed a big group of people very well and gave a lot of information to us. This experience would be perfect by accommodating visitors with an audio device to make the voice of the guide more accessible.
It was a great walking tour with very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. I learned so much about old and new city of Montreal. We've covered most of the interesting places. I will recommend this tour to my friends who want to visit Montreal in future.
It was great to help us to navigate the city, and to know where everything was- Alex was very informative about the history of Montreal
Our true guide, Tristan, was very knowledgeable, helpful, and fun throughout our tour. He was one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had.
I arrived early and waited for almost an hour as no guide had shown up and it was a long wait to get ahold of viator for assistance. There apparently was a location change for the start (over a month ago) and my reservation was not updated. A few of us did try to catch up with the group at the next stop or two to no avail. Was given the opportunity to do a later in the day tour but already had plans. Was not an expensive tour but still would have loved to have gone on it.
The guide had a lot of knowledge of history about Montreal. I learned a lot about the city. Highly recommended only for those who are physically fit as we had to walk constantly for 3 hours.
very detailed trip- lots of walking..The guides have great knowledge. Montreal has a feel of an european city - loved the architecture.
Highly recommend, this walking tour is one way to learn about Montreal history and visit the most important places in the city.
Guide was fine - lots of information, but couldn’t hear at times due to the surrounding noise. She also left sometimes without the whole group. It was overall OK, but more interaction (maybe a smaller group?) would have been nice.
It’s a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes, bring water, sunhat. Common sense stuff. The only place we had trouble hearing was in front of the Basilica. Too much other noise. My suggestion would be to stop either before or after it on a side street. No complaints overall. We “tipped” $30 CAD each.
It was a very nice and informative tour. Since the tour was on the city streets of Montreal, the tour guide really needed to be sure to face us. Otherwise, we couldn't hear him. Another suggestion would be some kind of headphone to project the voice a bit.
This is an amazing tour ,our guide Pierre was knowledgable and made this tour even better! We saw a lot in 3 hours.
I recommend the tour as it provides broad coverage of the history of Montreal. Although not from the area, our guide was very knowledgeable, and I appreciated his enthusiasm for the city´s history and ties to present day Montreal. However, I think he spent too much time on certain topics, like the ¨green¨ alleys, and receiving explanations in the tunnel of the Westin hotel, taking away from other areas. We rushed through certain parts and only reached the edge of Old Montreal. You are not walking the entire 3 hours, so it is not physically challenging.
Great experience lots of information and the tour was very smooth and friendly and it took us all around the city must do when you come to Montreal
Guide is an hour late, cut short on itinerary, missed quite a few spots i.e. Notre Dame etc, overall disappointing experience.
We had a very informative tour. Alex was attentive And friendly. I would recommend 😊 Now I need to explore more of the Old Town.
This tour covered a lot of places and over a lot of area. Be sure to wear good walking shoes. Alex was very knowledgeable about the area and the history

Felt the tour was just OK. Would have liked to learn a lot more about the history. Not sure if the tour has designated stops or whether Alex chose the stops, but it seemed light on information.

First, the guide, Alex, did not have a red flag for us to see to help locate him. Fortunately, he was the person we approached. We then got started about 10-15 minutes after 10am start time. After another 5 minutes of introductions, a police officer called the guide over to chat. After their discussion, the guide returned to tell the group the tour was cancelled. It appeared the officer gave the guide some type of ticket. The officer did not leave till we dispersed. Very disappointing. Not sure what type of operation Toonie Tours runs but they should have proof that their contractors are eligible to work. Can’t recommend them. Try the Hop On Hop Off Bus!

The tour guide was excellent. The tour could have been done in less time.. Because there were so many people (30-40) it was very difficult to hear the guide.

This tour was canceled by the police before starting. The Montreal police informed us that this company did not have a license to organize tours of the city.
Viator had already charged to my credit card 10.00. I hope they refund me.

It was interesting and very informative. Jarred knew his stuff. It's three hours, and a fair bit of walking. Might be too much for the older generation.
