We recently did the Blue Hole Falls excursion while visiting Jamaica, and unfortunately, it was not the experience we had hoped for. The majority of the tour—about 3 to 4 hours total—was spent on the bus driving to and from the excursion point. When we finally arrived at Blue Hole Falls, the actual time we had there was very rushed, maybe 30 to 45 minutes at most. On the way, we stopped at a convenience store where we were told we needed to purchase water shoes. These turned out to be unnecessary, as our guides and several other visitors at the falls were hiking barefoot or in flip-flops. It felt unfair to be pressured into buying $50–$60 water shoes that were cheaply made and ultimately not required for the hike. Once at the falls, the area itself was disappointing. We passed one of the water holes that was full of trash, which really took away from the natural beauty of the place. It seemed like the site isn’t being properly maintained by the organization that manages it. Because of that, I didn’t even feel comfortable getting into the water. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this particular excursion. The only highlight of the day was our phenomenal driver and tour guide, who were both friendly, knowledgeable, and made the long drive as enjoyable as possible. They truly went above and beyond despite the shortcomings of the excursion itself.

Hi Macey, We’re sorry to hear that this excursion didn’t meet your expectations. The drive from the port to Ocho Rios typically takes about an hour and a half each way. Regarding water shoes, we do recommend that guests wear either water shoes or comfortable tennis shoes for their own safety, as some of the rocks can be quite slippery. Water shoes are usually available for purchase at a cost of around $10–$15. We’re glad to know that our guide and driver helped make the experience more enjoyable for you and your group. We’ll also follow up with the property operators to address the issue you mentioned about trash in the water. Blue Hole

It was beautiful at Blue Hole. Getting to the swim area is rough, but we had lots of help. Guides were great. We didn’t make it to Fern Gully because of an accident causing terrible traffic, but made it back to the ship with time to spare.

A fantastic (but strenuous) tour

This was a beautiful tour with helpful and protective guides. At 75 I was probably the oldest person on the tour, but there was always a guide beside me to lend a hand when I needed one. Younger people did the diving into the blue hole, but just watching them was a fun experience. I would recommend this tour to anyone who can deal with strenuous walking.

Loved Blue Hole!

Great experience. Did this as a shore excursion for a cruise. Long drive to and from Falmouth cruise port. The drive was filled with facts and information about Jamaica and specific areas we were driving through. All the "passby" areas mentioned in the tour itinerary we passed by and viewed. The main attraction Blue Hole was the best experience of the tour. The tour guides at Blue Hole were entertaining and made sure everyone had a great time and were safe. Please walk with water shoes with grip as they are needed. We left there and ate lunch at "The Ultimate Jerk Centre" not Scotchies as mentioned in the description and the food was ok. Only food is included in the tour price, drinks have to be purchased. Otherwise, all in all the trip was a great experience. Special shout-out to Fun Tours for making accommodations to wait for us as our cruise ship did changed the times of arrival and departure.
