Wow — this was a truly magical experience and worth every penny. Gaucho Estate is just a short drive outside the city (with transportation included), yet it feels like you’ve stepped into another world. Tucked back in the hills, the evening ride offers breathtaking sunset views.
The horses were calm, well-trained, and clearly very well cared for — suitable for riders of all levels. (As someone who rode competitively, I pay close attention to horse quality and welfare, and I was genuinely impressed. That’s not always the case with tourist riding experiences.)
The included asado dinner was delicious, and the evening only grew more special from there. After dinner, we sipped wine under the stars by the fire while fireflies twinkled around us. Our gaucho hosts brought out a guitar and drum and sang local folk songs, creating an intimate, unforgettable atmosphere.
You can tell they truly love what they do — and it shows in every detail. I cannot recommend this experience enough. 10/10.

We booked this activity and the afternoon of it we got a message from the host asking if we’d like to move the reservation to the next day as we were their only reservations. When we explained that we could not due to other commitments, we were then told that the trails might be too muddy to use as there was rain in that area (though just a quick sprinkle in Mendoza downtown) the day before. Then we received a final message 15 minutes before pick up time that the activity had to be cancelled and would we like to reschedule.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Dejar Karyn,
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation of your tour, and we completely understand your disappointment.
We would like to offer some clarity regarding the situation. Although the weather in the city may not have appeared severe, conditions in the mountain area—where the tour takes place—were very different. Heavy rain had fallen that day in the mountain, leaving the trails muddy and unsafe for riding. For the well-being of both our guests and our horses, it was not possible to operate the experience safely under those circumstances.
Additionally, earlier that morning we informed you that you were the only guests booked for the tour. We always communicate this in advance, as some visitors prefer to join a group rather than take part in a private outing, and we want to offer that choice transparently. Unfortunately, both circumstances coincided on the same day: unsafe trail conditions and a very small group.
Please rest assured that the decision to cancel was made solely with safety and guest experience in mind, and never taken lightly. We truly regret that this affected your plans and appreciate your understanding of a situation that was beyond our control.
Warm regards,
Gaucho Estate.

Of all the wonderful things we did in Buenos Aires and Mendoza, this was tops. What a lovey way to end our trip - horseback riding through the first Andes range at sunset and then having dinner by campfire. Diego was absolutely fabulous - keeping a close eye on the inexperienced riders in our group and keeping them confident, and when he pulled out a guitar and sang after dinner his voice blew us away. Highly recommend!!!

100/10 experience with Diego and his team! My family went as a group of 5 with no prior horseback riding experience and Diego gave us great guidance in riding on our own!! He also made the asado experience at the end truly special with his great voice!! I would 100% book with them again given the opportunity!

The staff was wonderful and attentive, the food was delicious and abundant, the atmosphere was serene and gorgeous, the bonfire and guitar music after the meal were the perfect ending to an unforgettable adventure.

So much fun. Very well organized. Great horses, amazing guide, beautiful scenery. It gets cold so bring a jacket, if not two.

My husband and I had a wonderful time! From hotel pickup, visiting the ranch, riding the stunning horses, and the barbecue, we were beyond thrilled with the experience. I had never ridden a horse and I couldn’t have been more happy to try it on this excursion. The food was great and we even got serenaded with music! Diego, it was a pleasure meeting you and learning more about your country!

My family & I did this excursion on our last night visiting Mendoza. And let me just say… what an amazing adventure to end our trip. Diego & Fabio were excellent guides and extremely knowledgeable about not only the horses we road, but also the land surrounding us. They embodied the true Mendoza culture with a traditional Argentinian meal, wonderful wine, and wrapped up the night singing around the campfire under the stars. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a taste of Mendoza.

We really enjoyed our experience at the Gaucho Estate. Diego the owner, picked us up and made sure that we were comfortable and safe and enjoying ourselves throughout. His team does a good job, preparing the food and tending to the animals. This is a very rustic experience, so come prepared to get dirty and have fun. Two of our group were first timers on a horse and with Diego’s guidance, they were comfortable operating the horses in no time. Wine flowed like water and the food was plentiful and tasty. Handwashing facilities and a clean flush toilet was available. We enjoyed listening to Diego play the guitar and sing after our meal. One suggestion we can provide is to provide net picnic food tents to keep the flies away from the food. Obviously being around a lot of animals, there will be flies.

Enjoyable sunset ride on very calm horses. First time riding a horse for us and it was a great experience. The food and wine at the end of the ride was enjoyable. Just the pesky flies were a nuisance, but that difficult to control.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend

The evening started with a nice horse back ride around the estate followed by tasty asado. But the highlight was ending the evening with plenty of wine sitting around a bonfire while being serenaded with traditional Argentinean songs sung by gauchos playing guitars.

Everything we hoped for. Diego is an expert and a gentleman. His English is also fantastic. Riding was beautiful followed up by an incredible BBQ and time singing around the fire with great wine and company. We were completely sleep deprived going in but everything was so fun we forgot how tired we were. Couldn’t have gone better!

It was such an amazing experience to ride in the hills of Mendoza with Diego and Orlando. Very organized tour without feeling "touristy." Beautiful setting, horses, dinner, and would give it a 10/10!

We had an amazing experience. The views were beautiful and the food was delicious! Diego and his group were very friendly. 10/10 recommend!

If you love horses, dogs, delicious food, or simply having a fantastic time, this is a MUST. As a horse girl at heart, I couldn't be more pleased with everything this adventure offered. Diego was a phenomenal guide who can read his horses and the people in the tour very well. I will definitely be returning.

Fantastic experience horseback riding in the Andes. Our tour guide, Diego, was bilingual so he was easy to understand & was very personable & made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. The views were beautiful & the horses were lovely to ride. The asado dinner was delicious with lots of meat, delicious bread with garlicky chimmichurri & a fresh tomato salad. Diego serenaded us with his guitar under the stars. We had a fabulous experience & highly recommend it.

Great experience. We were picked up from Mendoza and drove into the mountains where we joined a big group at the ranch. There was a big support team to help with the horses, and me and my boyfriend felt very comfortable even at beginner level. Amazing bbq food, wine and singalong around the fire

Diego and his crew are amazing! We had the best time - a highlight of our trip. After a beautiful ride through the mountains the Gauchos had an asado waiting for us and then we sat around the fire drinking wine and listening to folk songs. Highly recommend!

This trip was fantastic. Diego and his crew are charming and knowledgeable, and they’re great chefs as well as musicians! Cannot recommend this experience enough.
Kimberley_M, Nov 2023
We enjoyed a nice jaunt through the mountains with Diego, before settling down to dinner and songs around the campfire. It was a beautiful setting, and a nice experience.
Terri_G, Oct 2023
Dinner was mediocre and the “gauchos”. did not sing nor attempt to entertain us in any way. No hand sanitizer, napkins or dessert. Simply a long pre-dinner horseback ride, back to stables and so-so meal. No choice about how you want your steak cooked.
Hotel pickup driver was super nice!
Sinead_R, Sep 2023
Diego was a great instructor and made it a very enjoyable experience for our group. The horseback riding, bbq dinner, Malbec and songs around a campfire were all amazing. Really enjoyed getting a taste of the gaucho culture. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Mendoza !!

The bbq was nice and the guide with the guitar singing was the cherry on the cake. It was a great experience.

We didn't make use of the transportation, but if you're staying in the Valle de Uco area, I'd recommend renting a car and coordinating to arrive on your own as it's about an hour and a half from the location. As for the experience itself, Diego was an amazing host; a true Rennaissance Man who can Guacho, Cook, play guitar, and sing. Beautiful scenery and a great meal and wine to close out the experience. Definitely something to add to the list when visiting this beautiful area of Argentina.

Diego and crew were fantastic! Such an awesome experience and we got a beautiful sunset! The dinner at the end also exceeded our expectations. Would absolutely recommend this tour!

This was for sure one of the highlights of our trip. Everyone was very friendly and the combination of the beautiful sunset horseback ride along with a fun, local-styled meal with a few guitar tunes mixed in there made for a very fun night. There is one thing I would like to mention to other potential travelers looking to do this amazing activity - pickup time from the group is variable based on what time the sunset is. Our tickets were originally told 4:00 PM pickup. The day before I reached out to confirm and they then told me 5:00. We waited outside of our hotel for almost an hour before they picked us up at 6:00. We were about to give up and go get dinner somewhere because we thought we missed the shuttle, but due to sunset being late (8:30 ish) when we were there, it began to make a little more sense. There was little to no communication the day of and they picked us up in a regular car, which would have been fine had we been told that ahead of time and knew what to look for. All in all, great experience that was a little more stressful at the beginning than it needed to be.

This was a beautiful excursion.... The staff picked up at our hotel on-time, and were awesome setting us up with our horses and guiding us up the path. Dinner afterward was very good and so was the impromptu guitar and sing-along. I would highly recommend this for anyone considering something low-key, but enjoyable.

The host were so nice and the horses were beautiful and friendly. Riding in the sunset in Mendoza was so wonderful and would definitely be on my top memories. The food and wine were excellent. And we met some wonderful people from around the world in our group. 10/10

The guides and hosts were so personable and attentive. They made the ride and the dinner such fun, making sure that we were all safe and having a great time. The views were incredible, and we felt like we had the mountains to ourselves.
