If you are looking for transportation, a commentary during the ride, some quick advice as to what to see, this is the tour for you. Once you reach each destination you are told where and when to meet back, and you are own your own. Nice enough and knowledgeable enough guide. Transportation is in a modern 9-person van (3 front including guide/driver, three middle row and three in back). Highlight of the tour was probably the 10-minute photo op atop the mountain in the national park along the way. I WOULD ONLY RECCOMMEND THIS TOUR IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN A "GUIDED/ESCORTED" TOUR.

Great tour and most cliff pit stop !

Florence was a great guide, gave us good suggestions for Cassis freetime and a small tour of Aix. The stop before Cassis, Cap Canailles, is breathtaking and probably the highlight of this tour. Our reservation showed 4h in Cassis but it’s actually two in Cassis and two in Aix. Merci Florence pour le bel après-midi!

On this tour, there is free time in Aix and Cassis. The guide uses the travel time to share her knowledge of the region and answer your questions. On Viator, it is clearly stated: Free time to discover the village Cassis. Possibility to embark on a 1-hour cruise to see the calanques. In Aix-en-Provence, stroll along the famous Cours Mirabeau dotted with refreshing fountains. Admire the private mansions from the 17th and 18th centuries. Free time before driving back to Marseille. Absolutely loved Cassis and Alex en Provence. The scenery was picture perfect. We had a fantastic tour guide and Driver Morgan what a gem. One of the most remarkable experiences of our 6 week tour through Europe. Loved it.

A brilliant day out

A relaxing way to visit Cassis and Aix-en-Provence in a single day with enough free time to explore them both. I fitted in a visit to the Musee Granet in Aix-en-Provence to see their ten Cezanne paintings and others by Picasso, Mondrian and Corot.

Fantastic Tour

Our tour guide Bernardo was very informative and fun, he kept is updated on everywhere we went and was super helpful to us all through. We had a good time stopping to take photos on the top of the whole of Cassis. We stopped at Cassis, which allowed me to take a boat to the Calanques which was absolutely gorgeous.

Great quick trip to Cassis

Our tour guide Carolina is great and she shared us the history and stories pf Marseilles & Provence. It was a great way to see Cassis if you don’t have a full day to visit there alone, great have to free time to roam around the town. It was a bit rush for aix en provence as we were only able to arrive the main street but wasnt able to see the nature side of it. Overall, it was a great trip and very friendly service

Nice transportation service

Great locations but it is not really a tour, is more a transportation service. Our driver was very nice and very helpful. We loved Cassis and Aix but probably could use more time one each town given it’s a half day tour is understandable.

Don't do this tour!

Let me start by saying how much we loved Marseille, even though many had told us not to start our trip there and avoid it. What do avoid is this tour! Our lady tour guide ( I cannot remember her name) was beyond RUDE. She came over 20 minutes late and seemed to have an attitude. She had definite favourites in the van and when my husband asked her to repeat some information he hadn't heard, sitting in the back of the van, she said NO! Cassis was lovely and we needed more time there. You cannot go to the caves/fjord area and explore the town. In hindsight I would have gone on my own and given myself at least four hours. Going onto Aix-en-Province was a joke, as we used all our time travelling there and had no time in the town/city. 45 minutes was not enough. So disappointing! She gave us no indication of what to do or where to go during our short stop!She was not fun or informative. She seemed more interested in getting home and giving the rush hour traffic the time needed to return to Marseille. It was an absolute disappointment, waste of time and money.

A waste one time in Aix

Not memorable! The guide did not know one useful piece of information about the itinerary and kept on just saying how beautiful and famous the regions is... In Aix-en-Provene we were given almost no guidance and did not see anything as 2 hours is not enough to just wonder around. At least the guide could have told us there is a little train that goes around (had I known where to catch it, that could have been a good strategy). A waste of time. Cassis was nice - make sure you are the boat to the Calanques.

More of a car service than a tour

Long story short, this is not a tour. Rather, if you want car service to Cassis and Aix then this is a good choice. We were hoping to learn about the history and significance of these cities, but soon realized it was not that type of experience. When you get to Cassis, I do reccomend taking to boat tour (it will be extra), unfortunately you really only have time for the hour ride rather than one of the longer ones where you can see more islands. Also, not sure why Aix en Provence is part of the excursion, it felt like we were taken there just to do shopping. Although it was a pretty town, I would have passed on it. Overall, i’d skip this tour and find a way to explore Cassis on my own.

Cassis was great

Cassis was small. A quaint little village w just enough time to wander around, see the sights & have lunch. 2 hours was not nearly enough time in Aix. It was too large to do much of anything. By the time we walked a block or two, it was time to return. Our guide didn’t seem to know too much of the history of either town. She was more of a very nice driver.

We had a wonderful time on the tour and loved all of our stops. Cassis and Cap Canaille were especially beautiful and would have been very difficult to get to without taking a tour. Great guide and excursion

Our guide Caroline was very fluent in English and really explained the history and landscape and culture of Provence and in particular the two towns that we visited. She was patient, kind, and a wonderful driver as well. She treated my elderly mother with much respect and love.

Cassis was so picturesque

The tour on a whole was quite good. We saw the most magical view of Cassis and the Mediterranean from atop a very high precipice. That vista was so memorable! We enjoyed Cassis on our own as our guide, Sebastian drove us from place to place and gave us some history and facts while we were driving but we had two hours in Cassis to wander or have lunch. Seeing the crashing waves on the beach was mesmerizing and the tiny harbor town was incredibly picturesque. Our trip to Aix in Provence was less interesting and aside from the various cafes around town there was not much to see. Two hours on our own seemed like a bit too much.

Could be better but…

Cassis is a nice town but we were told that options were having a long lunch or a cruise. Due to the weather condition cruise was not possible. I had a dinner reservation, it was not a great idea to have a big lunch as well. 2hours with no option was waste. The guide was rude, she talked only with Europeans, other ones didn’t get same treatment. Maybe she is a racist.

We can't let you write this. There is no form of racism in the behavior of our guide nor in our tourism company, and there never will be. We have ethics and we will never tolerate any form of discrimination. But under no circumstances can you write certain very insulting and degrading words for our entire society. You felt left out, we will pass on the information so that this situation does not happen again, but do not confuse racism with feelings of get different treatment. A tour in French and English remains a demanding exercise for our guides, especially when certain customers monopolize the guide, the conversation. Nice guide but tour needs some improvement

Nice gal and thank goodness a safe great driver. Took up to the top looking over all of cassis. What a beautiful view. Long drive between Marseille and Cassis and also the drive back from Provence to marseille. Would have appreciated some history, stories, or any information about the 3 towns we visited while we were driving around. While at Provence we got good information for our hour walk.

Pleasant & enjoyable & tips to go on this trip!

If you are crunch in time, I highly recommend this to see Cassis and Axin-Provence all in a half (7 hours) day. There were 3 couples (including us) total in a small comfy van. The excellent driver (Pape) spoke mainly English & some French to another couple from Luxembourg. We have mainly 2 hours to eat & shop at each place. The trip was very pleasant & enjoyable!!! For those who are on a tight budget and has more time, you can visit both places easily by train or bus. The cost is about $15-$20 round trip per person by train and not too far. Distance is about an hour each site from Gare de St-Charles. This will save you $$, however, it requires more time & time to plan. Time is precious when you travel out of the country. Spend more $, you then have more time to go other nearby city. Even though we are very $ conscious, we still highly recommend this Viator trip!

Great driver but not a guided tour!!
