My guide Archie was excellent, that he led me for an excellent walk around the island of Male. During the walking tour, I learned a lot about the island of Male, as well as Maldivian society, history and daily life. The tour included a rest stop at a nice cafe, with free fresh juice and water provided.

Finding “pier 5”, (the meeting spot) wasn’t at all obvious & Malé is very warm and humid. Expect to get sweaty! However this 4 hour tour tries to stay in the shade as much as possible and the length is necessary to cover all of the sights of the city. The walking is leisurely and on the flat. It was interesting and informative as the guide was a local & very knowledgeable with good English. To go in to the mosques long trousers are or a lungi is necessary to cover the legs. The coffee stop is a welcomed break from the humidity as it’s in an air conditioned cafe which has toilet facilities too. Overall, the tour of this small capital city is fascinating & is well worth doing.

We booked this tour two days in advance because there is not a lot to do on Male. We got to the pick up place at 1:45. The tour was suppose to start at 2. No one showed up. No texts in advance let us know anything so we could have plan something else. No sorry we're running late. We stayed there until 2:25. So we were very upset to say the least. So be warned.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. As shared in my personal message with you, I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by your tour not going ahead as planned.
As with all our guests, we sent a confirmation via the Viator platform shortly after your booking. This included essential details such as the name and contact number of your tour leader, as well as guidance on what to bring and wear.
When your Tour Leader wasn't there to meet you, you reached out via the Viator messaging platform at 2:10 PM, and although our office is closed on Fridays, I saw your message within 15 minutes and responded immediately to apologise and advise that I was arranging for another tour leader to meet you. This required an additional 15-minute wait, and therefore I also offered a full refund should you prefer not to wait further. You chose the refund, which was processed immediately, along with our sincere apologies.
While these were exceptional circumstances, I fully acknowledge that this does not change the fact that we did not meet the level of service we are known for. It is extremely disappointing when things go wrong, and I again apologise for the frustration this caused.

It was too hot and humid for this kind of tour, our mistake, but the guide stopped in the shade and always had a space for us to sit down while we listened to his stories and great information, we had a stop

Wonderful tour lead by Ube. Meeting point was fairly easy to find. Was a hot day and we were grateful we could find shade to stop and chat about the stops along the way about the history and current life of Malè. It was an easy pace and time flew.
We loved the fish & food market with a shared passion of the ocean. The stingray spot was amazing on the waterfront.

We had a lovely tour, full of information from past and recent days of Maledives. We had enough stops to take photos, took breaks in shades of buidlings. Mohamed Shark was an excellent guide. Very personable and informative. Unfortunately, a person in a handicap scooter signed up for this walking tour, which meant we couldn’t progress at the expected pace. Our tour ended up being 3 hours instead of four. Our time with Mr. Shark was wonderful, but unfortunately he had to spend a lot of time looking after the handicap person which took away from our experience. Please designate that walking tours are not appropriate for handicap scooters.

It was a privilege to walk around Malé with Nafsha and Archie, and learn about the country directly from Maldivians. I loved tasting local snacks at the food market, and our chat about life in the Maldives over refreshments. I only wish there we could have seen the Tsunami Monument as well, but sadly it is currently at the other end of the island

Shaffaff was our tour guide, and showed us the history of this young, budding nation of Maldives with such passion and showed a wealth of knowledge as well! We learnt a lot about the heritage, politics and history of the country, also having the chance to try out local snacks and see local sights at the local dry and wet market during the tour. It was insightful and gives a different perspective from the resort-y impression most would have of Maldives! Will 10/10 recommend this tour!

Hi , 4 Hours trip and the Money is not worth paying for this trip. Everything in Male is very close by. If you need lot of story telling , ie out of 4 hours 3.5 hours are story telling and 30 mins is to cover actual places. I do not recommend if you are only going to see the places. The places can be covered by your own. I felt money was too much for absolutely nothing from their end. The description says that operator offers snacks & tea at the end but we were not even offered tea or water for that matter. Although our tour guide was very energetic and with lot of information which we were not interested. We finished the tour in literally 1.30 hours by dragging it for a while.
Please note , Ramadan month, places would be closed and the Tour operator does not mention this on the site. She still take money as normal but you will be informed on the day abt closure of few places those are visited.

Thank you for your review and I am sorry to hear you did not feel the tour offered value for money and that there was too much story telling.
Checking back on our initial communication with you when you made your booking 10 days prior to tour, we did advise that it was the month of Ramadan and during this period inclusions are subject to change as local cafes will be closed during daylight hours, however, I understand from your guide that refreshment in the way of Maldivian snacks and kurumba was offered during the visit to the markets. Ramadan does not impact any of the other locations included in our tour.
You had contacted me the evening of the day prior to the tour to advise that you needed to be at the airport by 16:00 in order to take a speedboat and could we start the tour earlier. We arranged to meet with you at a different jetty location for your convenience at 12:00, 2 hours earlier than the scheduled time as we had guide availability that day and were able to offer flexibility, despite there being other guests booked on the same tour.
Due to the activity that you were participating in with another operator prior to our tour not returning you to Male until 13:00 and that you also wanted to depart back to the airport at 15:30, you were only able to spend 2 and half hours with us.
We believe, as do the large proportion of our guests travelling with us based on review feedback, that storytelling is an important part of our tours. It brings history alive and creates a participatory and more immersive experience.
You highlighted with your guide that you were particularly interested in taking photos of the key sights only and he ensured that this was achieved, whilst also encouraging you to visit other areas of the city that would also allow some great photo opportunities but you decided against this as you didn't want to walk to far.
I am sorry you were disappointed but perhaps on this occasion we were not the right style of tour company for your own personal requirements.

My husband and I had one day to see Male and thought this tour would be a great way to learn more about the city’s history and the sites - we are so glad that we did it! We heard from Shark that you had to leave the tour early at 5pm for your transfer and missed out on seeing the inside of Friday mosque and visiting Majeediyya school.
Our Male Walking Tour on Viator is a scheduled tour of 4 hours. Should you have booked directly with us we could have taken your transfer timings into account and arranged a more flexible 3 hour Male tour.

PERFECT big-picture overview of the Maldives by walking around its super-condensed national capital city, Male. My guide, the super-smart and cosmopolitan "Shark" (LOL, he knows; it's his more fun nickname than the otherwise bland Muhamed), is not only a good storyteller, he also has the (rare) insight to put things into perspective in the bigger world picture for his guests, from history and geography to Islamic island culture and pending environmental issues of this energetic, multi-island nation. Make time to do this tour before or after you hit the beach because it will show you a whole other side of the Maldives, a fascinating multi-cultural country whose story is both unique and universal in the world.

The tour was really interesting and nice. We touched all the main spots in Malè ending up at the local market tasting several products including coconut and dry fish. I would say that it is a necessary tour on a trip to Maldives to discover the cultural richness of a people that flourished from the difficulty of making a living on small isolated islands in the Indian Ocean.
UB and Shark were two thoughtful guides doing a dedicated job of being the ambassadors of this country that is far more interesting than its fancy resorts might suggest.
