A very enjoyable tour of Male! Don’t just head out to your hotel or resort without understanding the country you are in and the amazing people who live here. This is a walking tour so wear comfortable shoes. Pants are required for men to enter the mosque and women must cover their hair, shoulders, and knees. Be sure to bring these things with you - it’s worth the effort! Thanks to Hassan who was an excellent guide with a lot of pride in his country.

There was very little information given by the guide during the tour. As Male is a small town , you can easily complete the tour easily on your own.

We had 2 guides, both were students on break. The first young man accompanied us to Villiingili island. There wasn't much to see there, but it was a different perspective of the country, very rural.
The second guide, a pre-med student, walked and talked us around the main parts of the city. He was very knowledgeable and informative. The walk was at a good pace and ended in the local marked where we tried samples of a number of local snack foods; all very tasty. The city is small and compact, very walkable.

This is a great way to have a better understanding of the every day lives of people that live and work in the Maldives.
Our guide Loly, did an excellent job showing us all aspects of daily life. We saw mosques, schools, parks, beaches and Villemale where many local people live is a hidden gem.
We also saw the markets and the port distribution area to better understand where all the supplies come from and how they are distributed throughout the islands.
I highly recommend this tour to see the real day to day life of Maldivian people. This tour was taken as a cruise excursion.

Naura, our guide, spoke excellent English. She was flexible when and informative answering our questions as best she could. She waited patiently in the museum lobby while we were inside. She also helped us find a restaurant that was open to tourists during Ramadan (day fasting ) since most of the local restaurants were closed during the day. All in all a good visit .

Aslam, our guide, was awesome! He was very polite and smart. He was able to give us a tailored tour based on what we were interested in. He showed us lots of amazing things in Malé and made us appreciate the Maldivian ways and culture. Definitely a must-do tour during your Malé stopover to/from private island stays! Highly recommend this company. Kudos to Aslam for being a very accommodating and witty guide!

A walking tour was a lovely way to visit Male and Villemale. Our guides English was limited but we managed. The down fall was when our guide directed us to a restaurant and recommended was order a particular dish. This was on a separate menu. We assumed the price listed was in local currency like the other menu .The guide was also told us he was going to take us to his uncles shop after lunch, not usually part of the tour but we did not want to say no. Fortunately, the guide was called away in the middle of lunch to start the afternoon tour so we were able to avoid the shopping excursion. When the bill arrived we were charged in USD ($200 verses the expected around $40 USD). The meal was passable but not even close to value for money. Complete ripe off! While the guide turned out to be a little sketchy the tour owner was very honest. We rang him when this ridiculous bill was presented.
He arrived within 5 minutes. Resolved the problem by refunding the tour price which resulted in us paying the same amount as if we had simply purchased a USD$40 lunch. (lunch was not included in the tour). The owner, walked with us back to the port and notified his other guides to avoid this restaurant. Tour operator was a stand up fellow.

Had a wonderful tour with Haaidh today, a wonderful guy who was very knowledgeable on Male and Maldivian culture and history in general. Haaidh was at the meeting point ahead of time, was very well spoken, and made sure the tour met our interests and expectations. The tour was well paced, covered the relevant sights and was flexible to our interests. A great way to spend a few hours during a layover in Male, definitely recommend.

Mr. Hassan gave an excellent tour of the history and culture of this beautiful area. There was a ferry ride to the nearby Island of Villingili. Mr Hassan shared recent as well as older history of both Villingili and Male. Hukuru Miskiy, the markets also wonderful (with fresh fruit to sample and purchase), Sultan Park were my favorites. When I travel I wish to experience the rich culture and respect where I am. This tour was wonderful as experiencing the true culture as it is my goal. At the end I was able to also go to a fantastic souvenir shop and purchase amazing gifts for friends and family. Thank for a wonderful experience.

We had some time to wait before our fight from Male so we booked this tour to see the city and learn about what life is like in the Maldives. This tour did a great job at both things. We got to we the important place in Male and had some great conversations about what it is like to live in the city of Male and the country of the Maldives. We got to learn about the history and culture of the Maldives. We are very glad we booked this walking tour and enjoyed it very much.

Our guide Hassan was knowledgeable and brought us on a leisurely stroll to various places in Male, sharing historical and cultural information with us. We particularly enjoyed the fish market and the local produce market, with stingrays and angel fishes swimming in the sea just beside. We had air-conditioned respite from the heat, in the art gallery and the souvenir shops.

Mr Sarwan was very helpful with the private tour. We were able to finish the tour in two hours as we went through the city with his bike. I wanted to finish early ofcourse to meet the speedboat back to the island I was residing at.
I would recommend the tour to anyone who would like to know more about the history and real stories of the citizens of Maldives. It was very informative and insightful.

Unprofessional but okay. The tour guide first tried to charge us for the taxi ride to Male. However, when I pointed out that it was not mentioned in the Viator tour description, he backed off and said that the company would cover the cost. The rest of the tour was okay.

Sarwan picked me up from the airport and we spent a lovely afternoon strolling around Male city center, followed by a short ferry ride to Vilimale. Vilimale is a carbon free island and the local beach is stunning! The island has it all - eateries, supermarket, market, hospital, school, etc. Learned about the local life in Maldives and was great to see how the locals spend their weekends on the island where they reside. Sarwan sent me back to the aiport in time for the next pick up!

Notre guide a été vraiment génial. Notre arrivée a été retarder car notre hydravion a été décalé. Notre guide a modifié l’itinéraire initial pour que nous puissions quand même profiter. En plus nous avons été surpris par la pluie et pour éviter que nous soyons trempé il nous a emmené dans une auberge typique où nous avons pu goûter des spécialités. La pluie de diminuant pas il nous a fait visiter les principaux lieux en taxi.
