Bird life in abundance

Fabulous tour with over 37 different bird species spotted by Jien and Rama. We visited wet lands, paddy fields and jungle. We also spotted monkeys, large squirrels and butterflies. Thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon and would recommend the tour to anyone interested in birds. Jien was a master at spotting the birds and gave great information on the birds we spotted. Thankyou.

The naturalist Afie knew her stuff and we saw lots of birds in particular oriental hornbills and kingfishers as well as a field full of egrets, pond herons etc. She took us to some beautiful places and was very pleasan, knowledgeable and helpful. She had binoculars for all three of us. I would definitely recommend this tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Our guide Sham shared from interesting knowledge to help us appreciate the importance of preserving mangroves. I got some wildlife photos of a common kingfisher with a fish, a mangrove viper and beautiful eagles.

How young eyes can see better than ours. We saw 23 different birds and a lot would have been missed unless Affie said “look under 2nd branch etc etc” and sure enough it’s there,, We wanted to see local Kingfisher and we saw not one but 4. A guide is very valuable, they expand your experience.

We did see quite a lot of birds (and some monkeys), so it was definitely worth it. Also managed to see the great hornbills. Make sure you double check/contact the operator before the tour as we had some mix-up as they hadn’t received the confirmation, so we waited for nothing the 1st day. They made it up the next day though and quickly arranged a tour for us. In all it was a good tour, but the guide could talk a little more a about the birds in the area in general, not just about the ones we happen to see. They provide binoculars, so its easier to see the birds.

You can see many birds thanks to the very competent guide who spots them from afar, but this excursion is mainly for bird enthusiasts. For non-connoisseurs (that I am), it is too long and we spend a lot of time looking at binoculars. Nevertheless, I enjoyed seeing Martin fishermen and calaos.
