Great tour! They stayed on time between stops and did a fabulous job narrating in Italian and English. It was hot, but that wasn’t their fault. Bring an umbrella for shade while waiting on the ferry stop. Also, some participants would push and shove to enter and exit the ferry. Make sure anyone with limited mobility gets to the stop early so they aren’t in the back of the line or on the steep stairs when people start pushing.
There was plenty of room to spread out on the ferry. The top filled up on the initial leg, but after that there was a choice of seats up or downstairs, inside or outside. There were clean working toilets on the ferry.

So our itinerary was changed we had less time in the stops we wanted to see and too much time in a location not on the itinerary.
While it's beautiful on the water...I would take the train...to be sure you get what you want.

Tour not up to expectation because we did not make the stop at Vernazza which was included in the package. And there was no refund.

I understand you also wanted to visit Vernazza, but unfortunately if the sea gets rough during the day we can't disembark passengers 100% safely, so we skip it.

- The boat was extremely hot inside
- The towns visited were crowded but lovely.
- We were not aware there was places to swim at any of these stops so we did not bring any swimming outfits especially for the 2.5 hour stopover in Monterosso.
I wish this information was more clearer when booking as we would have been prepared better for this.
The stop overs in each town was plenty of time to explore.
- We observed that the sunbeds in Monterosso cost 40€ for a couple.
- by the time we reached the heavily crowded port of Vernazza, we decided we had enough and caught the train back to La Spezia. It was a relief to be in air conditioned transport. This is a very small town and by far the most crowded one at 4.30pm.

The boat was busy, but there was still room to move around. The commentary was given live in 5 languages and pointed out notable sites on the way out.
The three stops felt about right in duration, with the longest in Monterosso of 2.5 hrs allowing time to get lunch and go for a swim. The private beaches there were largely full (and expensive), but we found some space on the town’s small public beach.
This was a full day out - we left at 10am and got back at 6pm. If you want to sit outside on the upstairs deck you will need to arrive early.

The boat trip and the walks around each village we docked at were most memorable. For us, who were older, the tour guide walked too fast for us to keep up, so we just viewed the villages on our own.

Absolutely loved seeing the towns Monterosso, Vernazza, & Riomaggiore via ferry boat tour. I would have preferred to have a starting point of Monterosso, then you could include Manarola as well. It was quite the trek to take the train to La Spezia first, get a taxi & find the dock. Also unable to find a taxi back to the station after the tour. It was quite a long walk back to the station.

Although waters were a bit rough the children had fun. It is a must to wear walking shoes, drink water and wear light clothing as there many steps. I exercise on a very regular basis and was out of breath from climbing steps. My children are between the ages of 6 through 10 and they had a very difficult time climbing steps. We had to take a train ride back to our cruise ship because they were exhausted after the first stop and we were not going to make it back in time. Train ride went very smooth.

Itinerary changed last minute and never went to Cinque Terre. Instead, stopped at Portovenere which was nice, but the second stop was at the island across. 2 hour stop in the blazing heat and nothing to see. Wasted the only full day I had in La Spezia and did not get what I paid for. I do not recommend. Find another tour company if you want to see Cinque Terra. This is a bait and switch company.

we are really sorry and disappointed reading this review.
Unfortunately, we cannot control weather and sea conditions - so, when something unexpected occurs , we must intervene in the most safe way.
As well as is not our fault if there was a "blazing heat".
If conditions are not safe enough to navigate, for safety reasons, we CANNOT navigate in open sea and go to Cinque Terre.
That's why we proposed to change tour, inside of Gulf of Poets where the sea allowed us to navigate - in order to don't loose your tour. This solutions provided for you a refund of 20% anyway.
At the check in our staff informed every single passenger of this situation in every language (French, English, Spanish and Italian). Plus, there were 4 notice hanged on the wall.
We gave you two options and you could choose what was best for you:
- do not go on board at all and be 100% refunded
- or to go on board and do the new tour (Gulf of Poets/ Porto Venere and palmaria) with 20% refund anyway.
We also said to everyone (against our interest) that the only way to see the Cinque Terre was to go by train that day.
You chose to go on board and do the new tour so you will get your 20% refund.
We don't understand this complaint.
Sorry, but this is very unfair. We work hard every day to operate in the best and safest way for our costumers.

It was cancelled due to rough waters. I had emailed twice (the day before and morning of )asking if it was going to happen and no response. Took a lot of effort to get from Lucca and then to the pier and was disappointed we couldn’t have had a e-mail communicating this. Very frustrating.

Anyway, we didn't received any email from Viator costumers or any message from your chat. Probably did you write to Viator.com and not to us?
Regarding the day of your tour, we could not predict the bad weather conditions and rough sea, as they changed all of the sudden. The day before they looked ok, but during the night and the following morning they got worse. That's why we advised all the passengers directly at the boarding gate, not just you. We tried to do our best to navigate, but it wasn't the case, for safety reasons of course.
In any case, we apologise for the inconvenience, but in these cases is not our fault as we cannot control the forecast.
We are sorry to receive this 1 star from you for our service, as you didn't have the chance to try our experience. It's not really fair.
I hope you will have the chance to try our experience next time and change your opinion.

Die Bootstour war sehr vielseitig. Man konnte in kürzester Zeit sehr viele Eindrücke gewinnen. Leider gab es nicht wie angegeben einen deutschsprachigen Reiseleitern. Die Kinder haben dadurch nicht verstanden was spannendes über die Gegend erzählt wurde und das Englisch war durch die Lautsprecher auch nicht die beste Qualität.
Alles in allem hat uns der Tag sehr gut gefallen.
