Get picked up from your hotel in Ao Nang and Ao Nam Mao. The exact pick-up time will be confirmed by email after you have made the booking. If you stay in Krabi Town, there is an extra fee of 200 THB per person which has to be paid on the day of the trip. If you stay in Klong Muang Beach, there is an extra fee of 200 THB per person which has to be paid on the day of the trip. If you stay in Tubkaek Beach, there is an extra fee of 200 THB per person which has to be paid on the day of the trip. If you stay at Railay Beach, we offer a pickup service from the boat ticket office at Ao Nam Mao Pier which is just a 15-minute longtail boat ride from Railay East. If you stay in Tonsai Beach, please come to the meeting point at Phra Nang Inn reception in Ao Nang. If you stay at Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas, please take the hotel shuttle boat to Nopparat Thara Pier in Ao Nang.

What To Expect

Meet your guide at your hotel in Ao Nang, Ao Nam Mao or Krabi Town—pickup is also available from hotels in Klong Muang and Tubkaek for an additional fee. If you’re traveling from Railay Beach, take the 15-minute boat ride from Railay East to Ao Nam Mao Pier for pickup upon arrival.

Mount a horse that’s bred and trained locally by experienced staff, and learn the basics of safety and technique if you’re a novice rider. Follow the sand to a path that heads inland through small villages and scenic countryside. This is the perfect way to explore the Krabi region off the beaten track, away from the tourist centers and resort hotels. Listen to the sounds of tropical birds and a chorus of buzzing insects as you ride past palm trees and plantations, and enjoy the serenity of traveling by horse.

Finish the ride with a cool drink at basecamp followed by return transfer to your hotel.

Animal cruelty

Please do not support this. Horseback riding should not be a thing in Thailand if horses aren’t properly taken care of. I’m pretty sure there is animal abuse happening here. My horse kept stopping to eat along the way and there was an incident with the instructor’s horse. He used a string to guide my horse forward because the horse refused to go (most likely tired and probably not even fed properly). That string ended up tying around his horse and the tail. I’m attaching one photo I managed to take of the ordeal where you can see his horse fallen on the ground. His horse ended up pretty much biting the guy. Someone came to cut the string but neither of the horses were very responsive afterwards. It was traumatic. It really spooked my horse and I tried to help but I honestly slid off the back and distanced myself from the situation. I only got 15-20 min of my ride so I’m here to warn you against booking this experience. It’s really not that fun or great nor worth it. Go for a walk instead. Animal cruelty is not okay and these horses should be left alone. I don’t think that there is a good relationship between horse and human here. I’m from Texas, and I have never seen horses being handled like this or acting this way.

It was an amazing experience, you can also tell that they take care and love the horses. The 2 hr trip was a little too long in the heat I feel like an hour would have been much better. The trip was truly amazing and fun, I just wish they gave us a little more of a free hand with the horses, they held on to my partners horse the whole time.. they let me go freely. There were insane views, and empty beaches… I don’t think someone can ask for more

It’s a nice experience to ride on the beach

You go all along Ao Nam Beach with the horses. The horses are super brave and sweet (also if you have no experience). If you have more experience, you can also canter. If you don’t want, the crew is there to take care of you and the horse. The guides are really friendly and creative to make nice photos.

The tour operator/viator communications clearly broke down as we had to chase this up and only after 1 hour after the scheduled pick-up did some last minute arranged transport turn up. The folks running the horse riding at Ao Nam Mao Beach do not speak any English contrary to the advertisement which was a bit of an issue. Also check on the high-tides as our trip did not end-up on the beach due to the high-tide. All in all a bit of disappointment.

I went on a 2-hour ride on a great horse called Euro. Really recommend a trip with him. We started by riding on the beach, a lot of armed gallop, before it became a nice round in forest terrain and along the road. Recommended. We also had a stop along the way where d was served ice-cold water.
