Eddie was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made the whole trip very fun. He made sure everyone in the group is taken care of. He even drop off people to their specific hotels at the end so they don’t have to walk back at night.
At first, I didn't receive a reply to my messages to confirm our participation and so I had to contact Viator. This tour did not do hotel pick ups and we had to go to the meeting place Citadines Waterfront. We were met by our tour guide Eddie and we rode a van. We visited the floating mosque and the chocolate house. There was a delay in leaving the chocolate house and we waited for our van for 20 minutes, as the driver had to pick up another set of tourists. Then we had to switch to another van and we lost our original seats. Anyway, John was our guide at this point. It was an hour's drive to the Bongawan river. On arrival , we were served refreshments. It was a good day for cruising around to see the Proboscis monkey and the crocodile. Then we watched the sunset at the beach and someone made a fireworks demonstration. We rode the boat again to view the fireflies. After the river cruise, we had a good dinner before heading back to KKCC and we were glad that Eddie and John took us back to our hotel and not the meeting place so that we don't have to walk at night.
A great tour, well planned with an excellent and knowledgeable guide John. On the cruise both John and Eddie ensured we all enjoyed the scenery and wildlife. Eddie gave us an insight to the monkeys, monitor lizards and fireflies. Fully recommend this trip.
This was such a great tour! We got to see so many of the monkeys and Eddie was a great guide! I highly recommend this tour!
A great group tour. The guides weee amazing. Timmy was the absolute best! Knowledgable about everything and I loved that he could explain life cycles and much more. It’s a long excursion, specially on a hot day but a lot of fun: Tip, a lot of people opted not to go inside the mosque. You are in Malaysian Borneo, embrace what it has to offer.
We got to see the probiscus monkeys and the long-tailed macaque. The fireflies were a delight at night.
Be prepared for a a larger group. Smaller vans of about 12-16 transport and we had 3 vans in our group. There was AC so it was comfortable
The tour was very nice, well placed and Eddy was a great and cheerful guide, who even caught us a firefly!

Two stops in town before a journey of just over an hour to the river. Our guide was excellent. The lunch was nice and overall the trip was great value for money. Recommended.
From start to finish everything was explained to us and we were well taken care of by our guide Timmy. Clear explanations and interesting facts at the Floating Mosque and the Chocolate Factory. Delicious 'high tea' and lunch at the cafe by the river, and Timmy and his team made every effort to ensure we saw all the wild life possible - which can never be guaranteed. But we saw both the macaques and probscis monkeys, as well as a monitor lizard catching his own enormous dinner! Sunset at the beach was sensational in colours and cloud formations, and the clouds of fireflies on the river journey back provided a magical end to the trip. We were dropped off back at our hotel delighted with our day👍😁 Thank you to Timmy and all the team involved!
Our guide was wonderful. As a solo travel he made dure to introduce me to everyone else so we could all be a group.

This is a fabulous tour, well planned and a great mix of activities. John was an excellent guide. Knowledgeable, patient and fun. Wildlife tours can be tricky with no guarantee of seeing animals in their natural habitat but John and our 'spotter' did everything possible amd we were rewarded with Proboscis Monkeys, a Crocodile, Asian Monitor Lizard and gorgeous fireflies. The beach sunset is a lovely way to round out the tour. I highly recommend this and would do it again in an instant.
This tour was worth it, our guide Eddie was amazing and helpful and very experienced. We saw the proboscis monkeys and fireflies and it was amazing.
Fun experience, managed to see the Proboscis monkeys, the long tail macaques and the fireflies. The guides were really friendly and knowledgeable about the local wildlife and put in effort to ensure that we still got to see the animals despite starting the river cruise in a downpour. Remember to bring mosquito repellent!!!
This is an absolutely amazing tour. Our guide Eddie was fantastic. I leaned so much about cocoa, the animals, the island of Borneo and Sabah!
Starting at the Mosque, then the chocolate factory, to the cruise, dinner, sunset and the fireflies, it’s fabulous and I would highly recommend this tour.

Very good excursion with varied activities. The guide, John, and his helpers on the boat were very pleasant and helpful. Please note that the mosque is not included if you go on a Friday. Luckily, we saw proboscis monkeys twice, but people who went with a different operator did not see any monkeys.
A wonderful experience getting to see some of the sights of Sabah! John our guide was excellent, he is knowledgeable, friendly and professional and ensured we enjoyed our trip! The chocolate factory stop was interesting and informative and we certainly enjoyed the taste session, on the river we saw proboscis monkeys, macaques, herons, kingfisher's, woodpecker and baby crocodiles, after sunset we enjoyed the magical fireflies that make the trees look like Christmas. Overall a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend!!!
We had a very well-organized trip with a diverse and engaging program throughout the day. Our guide, Timmy, was fantastic—very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what he does.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side, and we had some rain. We spotted one proboscis monkey from quite a distance, but this is nature!
However, the highlight of the trip was the fireflies—they were absolutely magical, even flying onto the boat, creating a truly fairytale-like atmosphere.

No mosque in the tour due to Hari Raya. Roadworks caused long delays. Van was not suitable for such 2.5 hour journey. Back at the hotel very late. Dirty toilets at river trip. River trip it selfwas fine, but not worth the long uncomfortable journey.

Our driver and guide Timmy was great. Very knowledgeable and explained everything very well. Only saw one probiscis monkey, but so far away could not even take a picture or make out details. Nature is that way so no one’s fault, just set your expectations. Firefly experience was okay, nothing fantastic. Overall a nice day out of the city.

Fantastic must do. Seeing monkeys, lovely dinner and mosque good experience. Its rained later that day so poor visibility of fireflies. Simon is an excellent guide and looked after us very well from start to drop off thank you!
Very interesting tour with our guide Simon, who with a lot of passion, knowledge and humour informed us about and showed us many aspects of the local culture, history and wildlife. Definitely recommended.
We saw proboscis monkeys, fireflies ,mangroves and beautiful sunset. We were impressed with the tour guides who were friendly, knowledgeable and polite. Simone our guide for the chocolate factory told us lots of interesting information and had a great historical and general knowledge Edie who was our main guide was informative, caring and helpful. He was very knowledgeable about the different animals, natural environment and plants. He explained to us a lot of interesting things about animals, plants and human effects on the environment, and at times making it humorous and fun. He ensured that everyone was well looked after and even took mirror imaged of us. Thanks Edie. The refreshments and dinner were delicious and tasteful too. Thanks to the local ladies who prepared them. We do recommend this tour for everyone.

Even though monkey sightings were not great, lots of fireflies, sunset and nice dinner.
I enjoyed this tour very much even though the weather condition did not allow me to see the most beautiful natural landscape. My guide Eddie and Zai were very friendly and knowledgeable about Sabah nature, landscape, lifestyle, culture and politics that they shared many interesting stories on the way to the floating mosque, chocolate factory, and the Bongawan River. There were two nice boat rides in the river, the first one for the Proboscis Monkeys and the second one for the fireflies. It was unfortunate due to some heavy rain in the afternoon, we couldn't observe the beautiful sunset at the beach.
Eddie was a nice guide, he gave us enough information to enjoy our trip. We strongly recommend this experience. Security rules were perfect.

Usually we don’t like side trips like chocolate tour but it was quite good. Very informative about cacao plus many samples to taste.
Overall nice enjoyable tour. Would strongly recommend.
