This tour is priced higher than some others, and it’s important to understand that much of what you’re paying for goes into the logistics — boat arrangements, coordination and timing to reach the island comfortably and safely. With that in mind, the overall experience makes more sense. The boat ride across Lake Victoria is scenic, especially toward sunset. Golden skies reflecting on the water, restless waves, fishermen casting their final lines of the day and egrets moving through the shallows create a very atmospheric setting. The Equator marker standing quietly against the wind provides a simple but symbolic focal point. The sunset itself was the highlight — calm, expansive and unhurried. It’s not a high-activity tour, but rather one that lets you absorb the landscape and the moment. My guide, Viola, was friendly and helpful throughout, ensuring everything ran smoothly and making the experience relaxed and comfortable. Overall, this is a peaceful and scenic excursion best suited for travellers who appreciate quiet natural beauty and understand that the pricing reflects the transport and coordination involved.
