Excellent day trip to Pergamon!

We loved our day in Pergamon! Our guide Erman was very knowledgeable and friendly. He went at a relaxed pace, so the day did not feel overwhelming, and we had plenty of time for photos. We visited the Asclepieion first, which was fascinating. Then we went to Pergamon (not in a cable car, but rather in a taxi), which was also excellent. The lunch was nice, but nothing special. Pergamon is not as spectacular as Ephesus, but if you are looking for a more low-key set of ruins, it is a wonderful day trip and we were in great hands with Gezenthi Travel Agency.

Pergamon Tour

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was just two of us and our guide and so we had lots of opportunity to ask lots of questions. Pergamon was well worth visiting and I would highly recommend it. I would only ask that our guide volunteer information and interesting facts, as we sometimes did not know the questions to ask.

Excellent pergamon tour

We had a wonderful day with our excellent tourguide Ezgi and friendly driver in Pergamon. We were picked up at the cruiseport of Izmir at the agreed time in a very spacious clean car. Since there were only two of us, the trip to Pergamon was very comfortable and we felt very well looked after. In Pergamon we first drove to the Asklepion and then up to the Akropolis. Both archäological sites were very interesting and Ezgi explained everything to us in great detail. Ezgi is a very friendly, knowledgeable tourguide and speaks very good English. Since we still had enough time, we also visited the Red house in Pergamon, which was also worthwhile. After a tasty lunch in a nice restaurant we returned to the port earlier than expected and still had time for a pleasant walk around Izmir. We really enjoyed our tour to Pregamon and will recommend Gezenthi Travel.

This tour was excellent - major thanks to our guide Erman, who was so great we immediately booked the Ephesus tour with him for the next day! 😅 Pergamon was beautiful and incredibly scenic. Asclepion, the ruins of an ancient health center, was also fascinating - for both those in the medical field and those who absolutely are not (speaking for myself haha). Throughout, Erman’s background and explanations about what we were seeing - and the history of Turkey in general - were exactly the right amount of information, interesting and digestible but not too much. When we had more questions, he had answers, and his chill attitude and clear communication about scheduling were perfect for us as very engaged travelers… but also very tired ones! Having been to Ephesus today, I will also say that this tour had a lot of interesting ruins and scenic views without the crowds and intense heat of Ephesus so I would especially recommend if you’re midway through vacation or interested in a more laidback scenic experience.

Wonderful informative day at Petgamon ruins

We had a wonderful day long tour of upper and lower Pergamon thanks to Semih our guide and John our driver. On time, pick up. Comfortable MB van for four guests. Great, clear informative commentary by Semih throughout the day. Museum passes work. Guided walks around the lower 'health facility' site created by the Greeks and Roman's. Water therapy pools, sound therapy theater and tunnels. Gondola ride to top of the mountain for the Acropolis and Castles. Roads, plazas, columns and huge steep theater. Amazing views. Great lunch stop on the way back. Fun visit to a Turkish Carpet co-op with a chance to learn a few knots. I highly recommend the tour with Semih and John. A great day.
