An awesome experience!!! Willy our guide was fantastic, he was very friendly & knowledgeable. Everything went so smoothly, and we spent roughly 2 hours fishing, before we hung out at Punta Mosquito’s while Willy and the captain prepared our fresh (insanely delicious) ceviche!

Eric and Eddie, guides started us bottom fishing using traditional hand line and cut bait method. caught lots of fish within the fish hour. They also accommodated my stated preferred method of fly fishing. They however stated the area we are in as well as the season is not considered ideal for fly fishing. We moved closer inshore to an area where there's a chance for catching fish using flies. I was able to get a strike but failed to hook a good size fish. Never the less the experience was both exciting and satisfying. Both Eddie and Eric prepared Ceviche we all enjoyed! I highly recommend this outfitter if you are visiting Holbox.

Out of the five hours we were out on the boat, we fished for maybe 45-60 minutes. Most of the time was spent getting to the spots. We spent about an hour getting to the first spot where we fished(with a spool of line and a hook) for about 15 minutes. No luck. The guide then decided to try another spot that took another lengthy ride to get to and we fished for approx 30 minutes. No luck. Again off to another spot for another 15 minutes-maybe-of fishing. No luck. He then decided it was time for the beach and ceviche. We were taken to a beach for ceviche where my wife had to pay to use a restroom that was disgusting. We sat there for about 45 minutes and were then loaded back up to go back. We asked if we could do some more fishing and were told we could not.
I do not fault our guide for not catching a fish, he can't control the fish. What I do find fault with was the way the trip was run. We were out for five hours and fished for an hour at most. I don't know if it was because the areas we are allowed to fish or the guides desire to go to a certain beach, but the long rides to the fishing spots used up most of our time. The fishing with a spool of line and a hook, I also found substandard. Our guide was nice and we were provided Cokes, water and ceviche but the trip was a major disappointment. We essentially paid for a 5 hour boat ride.
In my opinion, your money and time would be better spent elsewhere.

The fishing trip was great for the most part. There were two couples and the captain and we caught LOTS of fish. The 13-gallon pail was so full, the last few fish caught kept jumping out of the pail onto the floor of the boat. Afterward the captain took us to a secluded beach to explore while he made fresh ceviche. The only problem we had is the captain did not offer us any fish to take with us. It was ackward to ask when we were leaving because the fish were nowhere in sight. He had transported to a different cooler. When I went back an hour or so later to ask about it, we were told ironically by the owner of the business who also owns a seafood restaurant that we should have asked. The right things to do would have been to offer us a free fish dinner or some such thing, but it did not happen. It was a good trip but it taught me a good lesson. The next island we visited I made sure to ask before we got on the boat, are we allowed to take the fish we catch?

We were with Captain Eddie and his brother Willie, and a family of 5. The description says with only 3 other passengers, ensuring that you receive personalized attention and don't feel crowded So we did feel crowded, and I think some of us missed fish because of the cramped quarters. Now for the positive, both Eddie and Willie are extremely knowledgeable and affable.They did a great job, the cerviche they made was outstanding.It was a beautiful, warm, sunny, clear day. Overall, other than the crowded conditions, we had a fantastic time, and caught a lot of fish. I would highly recommend this tour.

It was a highlight of our 5 day stay. Rojo was our guide - very helpful, informative and fun. We line caught red mouth, yellow tail, then he and the boat captain fixed the best ceviche I've ever had. We had a wonderful time!
