We really enjoyed meeting our guide, Liam. Everything was just as the reviews said, great communication and pickup was on time, right at the ship. They customized the tour to fit our schedule. We saw the beautiful countryside distilleries and Dunrob Castle..had lunch at a delightful inn. Great fish n chips.

Gavin is awesome!! There is nothing better than a six foot seven guy in a kilt with a vast knowledge of whiskey, a wonderful sense of humor, and a genuine love of Scotland to lead people on a tasting tour of Scottish whiskeys.

If you want a once in a lifetime experience while visiting Scotland you need to book a private whiskey tasting tour with Gavin. From booking to the tour, Gavin was nothing but accommodating, communicative, generous, and knowledgeable. Gavin created a tailored itinerary centered around our interests and preferences as well as his personal recommendations. We had so much fun with Gavin and were able to try countless drams of truly amazing and unique whiskeys. I will note that tour fees and distillery tastings are separate. In addition, Gavin also has many whiskeys to try from his private collection. Gavin truly provided a seamless and unforgettable experience, can’t recommend this tour enough!

Great experience and far better than a generic white-van tour allowing us to tailor destinations and visit distilleries that are not readily available in stores in the states. We visited several locations and lunched at the Highlander Inn, which is also highly rated as one of the best whisky bars to visit. Peter was a fantastic guide on our Speyside whisky tour and we would definitely book again.

This tour was amazing! Our guide, Peter, was superb! From the moment we were picked up we were treated to luxury and consideration. We were able to enjoy a large variety of distillaries we would never had been able to get to had we been on our own. I highly recommend this excursion!

Very flexible! Easy to work with! Great communication! Definitely worth spending a little extra money to have a private driver. The driver also offered us a "car bar" that allowed us to try scotches not offered at the dispensaries we were going to visit, which allowed us to try even more options! Gavin and Peter were absolutely amazing!

Gavin did a great job communicating with us about our day and working with us to tailor our day tour to our wishes. Great communication. Our tour guide/driver/bagpiper, Jason, was fantastic. Jason kept us up to speed regarding our schedule and did his best to accommodate our wishes. We know Jason couldn’t control whether the Walker store would be open for us, but he tried. We also had the unexpected surprise of getting to see Highland cows up close. The bagpipe solo was a perfect complement to the distillery visits. Thank you, Jason! I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants a more personal experience and the ability to tailor your tour to your tastes.

What is a trip to Scotland without sampling a variety of whisky the country has to offer? We worked with Gavin and used his expertise to cover all the bases and different flavor variations of the Speyside region and then some. Gavin is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and experienced in the art of touring. He taught us about the different flavor profiles as well as the history of each. Each location selected, it was clear he spent the time to establish relationship for the best and highest quality of experience. I would say the highlight for us was the Speyside Cooperage and figuring out our favorite styles of whisky. Gavin was a delight and easy to talk to as he toured us to each location so we did not have to worry about driving and sampling. Not only did we talk whisky and history, but it was nice to chat on a personal level. Keep up the excellent tours, Gavin and company!

This review is long overdue...
Our experience was simply AWESOME! Liam was early and met us at the train station with samples of some of the best Scotch whisky from the Highland and Speyside areas. What a way to start the day! Liam was so knowledgeable and patient. He was the perfect guide and took us to some of the best distillery's around. By the end of the day, Liam was a 'brother from another mother' and part of the crew. We enjoyed our experience so much, we were able to arrange a second day with Liam as our guide. He helped us explore Scottish historical sites and breathtaking views of the countryside. I am currently working on a plan to go back in the fall of 2024 and will make arrangements to use this service and see Liam again.
I would strongly recommend this service to everyone!

This was an excellent adventure. Communication with Gavin and Liam was quick and efficient at all times. Liam is a charismatic lad, with excellent knowledge of the subject matter and catered for both the whisky drinker and novices. Absolutely enjoyed our time with him. I cannot imagine visiting distilleries without a proper guide.
Only other note is that the booking promised 7 distilleries but we only made it to 5.

We toured various distilleries, Glen Moray, Benriach, Abelour, Glenallichie, and Canthhu as well as having lunch at a great small pub! The pub had a wide selection of whiskies. Liam gave my husband and myself a wonderful day touring Speyside area of Scotland!

My Gavin review: Gavin at Inverness Whisky Tours is excellent. He took fantastic care of me and my family on an amazing day tour of speyside and highland distilleries. He’s knowledgeable, kind, had an easy sense of humor, and went to great lengths to customize the trip to our preferences. He has inside information about some of the distilleries and it was clear that folks at each of the distilleries knew him well. His explanations of Scotch whisky, ability to get us a few free drams, and his willingness to share some drams of interesting whisky from his own personal collection added a personal touch that made the whole day spectacular. We won’t forget our day with Gavin anytime soon. Can’t recommend enough.

We spent a wonderful day with Liam who on our way to the first distillery educated us on how whisky in Scotland is made. That was very helpful to understand what we were about to taste on the tour. We also squeezed in a Gin distillery.
The lunch stop at the Siding cafe was very unique and great food.
Being able to taste the different whisky’s right from the source was awesome. Liam’s enthusiasm and knowledge of not only whisky but of the area and Scotland truly made our day and will not soon be forgotten!
I would highly recommend this tour if your in Inverness.
