You would do better to book this tour directly with “Esperanza tours” which is the tour agency that actually takes you to the mountain. The agency here on viator is not directly involved and overcharges with hard currency. Despite the description that promises a “round trip” the journey ends in the city center where they ask all the passengers on board to get off and go home on their own. Added to this, they were late for the early morning pickup which is annoying as they give you a timeframe of 5h-5.20am where you “have to be ready” however they arrived 15 min later.

Amazing hike, mediocre tour

This was probably the most beautiful hike that I’ve ever done. That said, here are a couple things to know. First, the hike is completely self-guided. For that reason, it’s worth looking around once you’re in Huaraz for a cheap offering rather than booking ahead of time. Second, the tour group was massive. There were probably 50-60 people hiking between 2 tour groups. This tour provider was nothing special, but I highly recommend Laguna 69 overall.
