It is one of the incredible ice-covered peaks of the famous Cordillera Blanca. The total altitude of Nevado Mateo is 5,150 meters, and the ascent is considered technically easy. A private car will pick you up at ~3AM from your hotel. After a 2h30 drive, you will reach the trailhead in Punta Olimpica. At the first sunrise lights, you will start hiking with our certified mountain guide for 1h on steep moraine rocks, then 1h30 on glacier with crampons and safety rope. You will finally summit the Mateo glacier at 5150m shortly after sunrise!! After enjoying the peak, you will descend for ~1h30 and drive back to Huaraz, arriving around 12AM-1PM.
