Cream is a wonderful tour guide who invites you to learn and embrace the flavors of Thailand. She has a deep personal connection to the foods and vendors along the tour. We were lucky enough to have our tour on Tuesday, the day of the local food market. More than a hint: sign up for Tuesday tour if possible.

We were taken around by a lovely lady called Cream. She was very knowledgeable and explained everything we saw in the market and all the dishes we tried. She even explained how to eat some things which made the taste experience even better. I highly recommend this tour, not only for the tastes but also to get an understanding of the food and culture.
We learned a lot.

Come hungry! A fantastic 3+ hours of eating and learning Thai cooking culture. Our guide Cream was absolutely charming and engaging in telling us the food and cooking that is done in certain regions of Thailand. We’ve done food tours all over the world and this was the absolute best!

As an avid food tour attendee I was very much looking forward to this food tour in Hua Hin as I have previously had great experiences in Chiang Mai, Phuket and Bangkok. Unfortunately this tour proved to be a bit of a disappointment. Our guide was personable enough but unfortunately did not show us a great understanding of the food itself. Previous tours we have had guides explain not only what the food was, but also the 'why' they are showcasing the particular food, the 'why' we are eating it at the particular place they have taken us to, and the background and story of the person who has cooked the food for us.
We went to the market first and were given one piece of each of the foods and the guide promptly took the rest of it away in bags for herself to take home. This also happened at the two restaurants we went to where we sampled a number of dishes - none of which really 'wowed' us and the restaurants themselves were nothing remarkable.
All of the other food tours we've previously attended in Thailand would take us to restaurants where they had usually one special dish which had some history attached. Eg: maybe a recipe that has been handed down several generations, the Michelin desert food cart in Phuket (Apong dessert), a small Burmese restaurant where we sat in simplicity and tasted Burmese influenced food, etc. A great example of this on the Hua Hin tour is we had Khao Soi (one of my favourites) at one of the restaurants along with several other dishes. Whilst the dish was OK we were left wondering why we didn't go to the specialty Khao Soi restaurant in Hua Hin (named Khao Soi Hua Hin) where we had the most spectacular Khao Soi chicken dish two nights later.
Overall we were a bit disappointed as this was one of the most expensive food tours that we have done in Thailand and the tour and food was not reflective of this. Also seemed a bit unprofessional for the guide to be eating the food along with us, limiting how much we could have at the markets and then taking away the leftovers for her own consumption at all the restaurants.

Hi there Graham and thanks for taking the time to review our tour.
This is hard to answer your feedback as the other guest on the tour gave us a 5 star rating on Tripadvisor. That tells me that both sets of guests had different expectations, which happens. We do have other tours (7 food tours in total) which some go to specific places steeped in history or serving up Michelin dishes or tasting a Khao Soi that is a similar flavour profile to the one you tried in Hua Hin on your own. (We actually try the popular dish of Khao Soi on 3 different tours at 3 different places.) Each tour has different food stops & flavours, mostly different dishes, so that travellers can choose the best one to suit their knowledge of Thai food.
When travellers are comparing tours and pricing, transportation on the tour will affect the price. Not knowing the tours you did and whether they were walking tours &/or meet up tours, we pick up and drop back guests to their accomodation in Hua Hin town plus the tour you did is fully transported.
With all feedback we receive, together with the guides, we review it and adapt where applicable including food and delivery feedback as well as tour descriptions and expectations so guests booking through on-line travel agencies can book with clarity. Our tours are generally small group tours and sometimes the guides may sit with the guests or taste the food that is on offer. This helps us understand the flavours and whether it is what we expect. They also will have a focus on food wastage hence why the guide may have taken the food with her.
I am unhappy that you were disappointed on this occasion.
Kind Regards Leigh

My husband and I were the only one's on the tour so we had the wonderful Cream the tour guide all to ourselves. Cream was very attentive, kind and full of local knowledge. She took us around the fresh market and we tried the most delicious sweet and savoury local foods. We then moved on to two restaurants which served the most delicious prawn dish and and the famous salt crusted fish dish. We highly recommend this food tour and you must remember to come hungry! 😁

Fully recommend this - we'd been to Thailand a few times already and were looking for a food tour that went beyond what many people already know/would have been familiar with. Leigh and team delivered on this in spades, bringing us places we normally wouldn't have gone or ordered from by ourselves because we weren't familiar with the cuisine. Thank you for the amazing experience!
Response from Host, Nov 2023
Hey Joshua. Thanks for your feedback about our Sunset Local Eats Tour. We love our town and the food in it. Hope to see you again soon. Regards Leigh

Most informative tour. We ate things we would never have dreamt of trying if Cream hadn’t suggested them and told us what they were. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Thank you

Great experience with a good guide. Tried food we would not otherwise have done.
Transport was fun and on time. Cream is an excellent guide.
