Richmond is a lovely town, steeped in history. We learned so much about our convict past and enjoyed our afternoon exploring this beautiful place. Despite the sadness that is felt for the past, there is a peacefulness about how it is honoured and remembered. Would thoroughly recommend this tour. Our driver Mark, was knowledgeable and entertaining. Thanks Mark for a great experience.

A perfect ending for our Hobart trip, with a visit to the Richmond Town and the goal , plus the historic bridge.

Richmond is one long street with shops that are wide spread in the street. Some shops are a little different with the German outlook. There was nothing to see only shops. Very disappointed in this trip, I honestly we thought that we would see a bit more of the country side.
Response from Host, Dec 2024
We are sorry to hear that Richmond didn't live up to your expectations. Richmond is also home Australia's oldest convict built working road bridge and other historic landmarks. It does have a great range of specialty shops and cafes. We take on board your comments regarding seeing more of the countryside. The drive through the Coal River Valley on the way to Richmond is a very picturesque one. Thanks again for your feedback

I took my mobility challenged Mother on this adventure on 14th November 2024 during our recent Tasmania trip. Our Driver Dave (I think), was incredibly helpful, very knowledgeable about the Hobart area and surrounds and was great company on the day. The assigned bus on the day had room to store the fold up attendant wheelchair (as well as another passenger's walker) and the driver had a readily available step to help Mum step up into the Mini Bus. I had checked this with them before we booked.
I definitely recommend Viator and this tour to Richmond for able bodied adventurers.
We were on a Cruise and had to option to visit Richmond from Port Arthur the day prior. The price of this tour with Viator was a quarter of the Cruise Ship excursion price.
If you have a family member with mobility challenges using a walker, or in a wheelchair, there are challenges with the terrain in Richmond village and entry into some of the colonial era buildings for shopping and browsing. This is a destination issue and not a Viator issue to solve.
Everyone we encountered was incredibly helpful and accommodating wherever possible. I often didn't even need to ask for assistance as business owners and locals stepped forward to assist. A special shout out to Larder and Vin where we stopped and they made me a divine Charcuterie + Cheese platter for one paired with a phenomenal Hughes & Hughes Pinot Gris. Utter bliss!
For anyone with mobility challenges, be aware that the natural terrain and footpaths did made it hard work for me pushing a wheelchair around.
An FYI - We weren't able to find an accessible path down to view the Richmond Bridge from water level. Maybe it's there and we just didn't find it. Our Driver did take us on a driven tour around Richmond and we were still able to see the view of the magnificent bridge from the Mini Bus.

Richmond Village is cute but there wasn't really enough to do for the time spent there - it was Boxing Day and about half the shops and galleries were closed, even the driver/guide was surprised by how much was closed.

Richmond is a very nice little town. We enjoyed our time exploring the town. The weather was raining on and off but we still able to get a very nice photograph of the bridge.

An afternoon visit to beautiful, historic Richmond is a must. So picturesque & we loved the bridge built by the convicts & the ducks on the grassy banks. Plenty of lovely walks, interesting shops & places to eat especially the bakery.
