The tour guide I had was very knowledgable and entertaining. The Port Arthur site is well worth the vist if you are in Hobart. Beautiful grounds and interesting history. I paid an extra $30 for the Isle of dead tour which I thought was worth the price.

Fantastic Day Trip

CHERIE_P, Mar 2026
A very scenic trip from Hobart to Port Arthur with a few nice short stops along the way. The bus driver Phil kept us entertained the whole way and provided a lot of history. We had plenty of time at Port Arthur which had so much to see. The short ferry ride was a nice extra as well. So scenic all around.

It’s a great way to visit Port Arthur and explore the south east area of Tasmania by joining this tour. The guide and driver, Phillip, gave us informative commentary with a good sense of humour. We know more about and specific information and history of Tasmania. The itinerary is excellent. We get to experience the world heritage Port Arthur plus some natural wonders. We enjoyed the day thoroughly. Big thank you to the guide Phillip!!

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful review! It’s fantastic to hear that the tour gave you such a memorable way to experience Port Arthur and the beautiful south‑east of Tasmania. Phil clearly made the day even better with his informative commentary and great sense of humour — it’s amazing how much richer a place feels when the history is brought to life like that.

Non - existence bus trip

Vicky_A, Mar 2026
Unfortunately, I can't give a review on Port Arthur, as I didn't get picked up to experience Port Arthur. The bus driver was not informed of pickup from my accommodation. I wasn't willing to risk not being picked up again and had other activities lined up

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry you were unable to join the Port Arthur tour, and we’d like to clarify what occurred so future guests have accurate information. You booked the tour at 6:30am on the morning of departure, just 1.5 hours before the normally scheduled pickup time at your hotel and before the 8:45am tour departure time. All confirmations — including the one provided by the online agent you booked through — clearly state that 8:45am is the tour departure time from Brooke Street Pier, not the hotel pickup time. Because your booking came in so close to departure, we attempted to contact you multiple times by phone (rather than email, which may not have been seen in time) to confirm whether you required a hotel pickup and, if so, to provide the correct pickup time. Unfortunately, our calls were not answered. We received a call back from you five minutes before the tour was scheduled to depart. By that time, the vehicle was already at Brooke Street Pier with all other guests on board and ready to begin their day. Returning to your hotel at that point would have significantly delayed the tour and understandably caused frustration for the guests who had arrived on time. Despite this, we offered to transfer your booking to another day or to advise your online agent to issue a full refund, even though the booking fell outside our cancellation terms. Given these facts, it is disappointing to receive a negative review for a tour you did not experience — particularly when this tour consistently receives excellent feedback from guests who join us on the day. We hope this explanation provides clarity.

Port Arthur and local features, Tasman peninsula

Debbie_W, Mar 2026
Port Arthur was greater in area than I had imagined but despite raining most of the day, I had a great experience. The commentary was interesting & informative. I enjoyed the cruise around the isle of the dead and seeing the open southern ocean, nothing between us and Antarctica. Tasman arch was more outstanding than I expected. We stopped on the way home for boutique chocolate & for me some irresistible icecream. I would happily do it all again. Special thanks go to Allan, our knowledgeable and experienced driver.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review. It’s wonderful to hear that even with a rainy day, you were still able to enjoy the full Port Arthur experience. The site’s scale and history always leave a strong impression, and we’re glad the commentary added depth to your visit. Your kind words about Allan mean a lot; he’ll be thrilled to know his knowledge and experience helped make your day memorable. We look forward to seeing you again on one of our other tours.

Amazing experience

Louise_L, Mar 2026
This tour was amazing the tour guide was so informative and very passionate about Tasmania. The tour consisted of a short stop in a small village where the oldest bridge in Australia is and then to port Arthur, so beautiful but also sad and eerie. Had a few ghostly experiences. Then to a boat tour of the islands and bay also the option of the caves too but I didn’t go. Well worth every cent !!!! Highly recommend

1. The tour was...

YOUNGHEE_H, Feb 2026
1. The tour was advertised as a "Guided Tour", which led s to expect an on-site guide accompanying the group throughout the visit, however the guidance was limited to commentary provided on the bus. 2. The bus commentary were not audible from the back seats 3. During the journey, multiple additional stops (including shopping) were included, significantly extending the total travel time.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We genuinely value all comments, although it is disappointing to receive a review like this given that our tour consistently holds a higher number of 5‑star reviews than any other operator in the region. We delivered the experience exactly as advertised, so I’d like to clarify a few important details. Our tour is, and always has been, a fully guided experience from the moment you are collected from your hotel. The day begins with guided commentary on board the coach, followed by a guided orientation at Port Arthur provided by our driver‑guide. Once inside the site, guests join the official Port Arthur guided talks, which our driver‑guide highlights during orientation. The experience also includes the guided harbour cruise as part of your entry, and throughout the day our driver‑guides continue to provide guidance at the scenic stops within Tasman National Park. All of these guided elements are clearly stated in our advertising, including on the online travel agency website where you made your booking. I would encourage you to revisit the tour inclusions to see how each component is described. We also build some free time into the day, as our guest feedback consistently shows that people appreciate having opportunities to explore at their own pace. This balance between structured guiding and personal time is something travellers regularly tell us they enjoy. I’m sorry to hear that the commentary was difficult to hear from the back of the coach. We will certainly review this with our team, as clear commentary is an important part of the experience. Regarding the stops along the way, these are not additional or unexpected. Every stop is clearly listed in our itinerary and appears in all advertising. The tour includes a brief visit to Richmond, a scenic pause at Pirates Bay Lookout, time at Tasman Arch, and a visit to the Tasmanian Chocolate Foundry. These stops are included for both sightseeing and convenience and form part of the published itinerary. We also offer the opportunity to visit Remarkable Caves as an optional side trip; guests who prefer to remain at the Port Arthur Historic Site are welcome to do so. Given that the tour delivered every element exactly as advertised—including multiple layers of guided commentary, clearly published stops, and time for personal exploration—it is disappointing to receive a review suggesting otherwise. I hope this explanation helps clarify the structure and inclusions of the tour you joined. If you’d like to revisit the advertised itinerary, We'd be happy to walk you through it.

A great day out

Gillian_L, Feb 2026
Phil was our terrific guide for the day. Lots of interesting information provided along the way and some great stop-off points. The Port Arthur site is so interesting with guided talks at various points - everything very well organised.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re delighted to hear you had such a great day, and it’s wonderful to know Phil helped make the journey memorable with his insight and engaging commentary. Port Arthur is an extraordinary place, and we’re glad you enjoyed the guided talks and the well‑organised experience throughout the site. It’s a destination rich with history, and it’s fantastic to hear it resonated with you. We appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you on another tour soon.
