Our tour guide Jack was very knowledgable and friendly. He catered to our specific interests in the area and offered exceptional service.

Hillbilly Jack was a great guide and shared lots of Vietnam history on the trip there. A somber and sobering experience at Long Tan. Delicious lunch on the way home. Fantastic tour, highly recommend.

You need to bring a little bit of imagination and ideally some background knowledge to bring this one to life. However our tour guide, HillBilly Jack (yes), was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic he would have kept anyone interested. He brought laminated photographs of the areas from 2966 so it was easy to compare and contrast the sites as they are today. A really poignant few moments were taken at the cross, as well as a chance to lay a flower which was a really nice touch from the guide.

Hi William,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review.
You’re absolutely right — having a bit of imagination and background really helps bring Long Tan to life, and we’re so glad that HillBilly Jack made that experience even more meaningful for you. His passion, knowledge, and the way he uses historical photos to connect past and present are exactly what we aim to deliver on every tour.
It’s especially touching to hear that the moment at the Long Tan Cross stood out to you. That quiet time for reflection, along with the opportunity to lay a flower, is something we believe adds a deeply personal connection to the history.
We truly appreciate you choosing to tour with us and hope to welcome you again on another journey in Vietnam.
Warm regards,
Saigon Tours Team

Very interesting tour with our tour guide Hill Billy Jack. Jack had put much effort in researching the history of the area. Used photos to show what it would have looked like in War Time.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
We’re delighted you found the tour interesting! Providing a deep dive into the history is our goal, and Hillbilly Jack’s use of photos is a key part of how we tell that story. Thank you for recognizing the effort that goes into our research—it was a pleasure hosting you

Jack is a fantastic tour guide. He has worked hard to better understand the visitors needs and shared his deep knowledge of historical events.
We visited all the sites that Australians and NZs would want to see.
We enjoyed Jacks sene of humour and Aussie references.

This tour was very interesting and puts the history in perspective. I had seen the movie and visit and chat with Vietnam vets in Greenslopes hospital but actually visiting the site where it all happened, what an experience. The tour guide “dingo” does it very respectfully.

It’s advertised as the Australian base but really not worth the money I paid. Guide kept giving me books to look at. Referring to a map. Tunnels were ok. Very disappointing to pay for a personal tour only to have him double book.
Response from Host, Apr 2025

Our guide Chien was most knowledgeable as had first hand family experience of events. Most appreciative of Australian forces and even provided flag service and laying of flower wreath for remembrance.

A wonderful tour with the very informative Dingo Chien who was very humorous! We got to see many significant sights and photo opportunities. Dingo set up two special Australian memorials for us to remember and reflect on the battle of Long Tan. Highly recommend this tour.
