What To Expect

Meet a driver at your Penang Island hotel for 5:30pm departure, then travel to Penang Hill, or Bukit Bendera, which towers over George Town and the coast. Board the Penang Hill funicular railway for the trip to the summit—the funicular was built in 1923 to bring colonial-era visitors to the cooler air in the hills.

Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed to David Brown’s Restaurant, a Penang Hill landmark serving old fashioned British food in a romantic tropical setting. Sit down to a hearty meal, with alcoholic drinks available for purchase, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the hill top dining room.

After dinner, take some time to stroll around the garden, whose flower beds, ponds, and meandering paths are illuminated with soft, yellow lights when the sun goes down. When your evening at David Brown’s Restaurant concludes, meet the driver for the return trip to your hotel, where this dinner excursion concludes.

Night up Penang hill.

Three hours is not long enough to enjoy this tour, luckily our driver was happy to give us another hour, which made the experience much more enjoyable. Fast track tickets for the train worked well, but with no vouchers for David Browns restaurant we had to tell them we had paid in advance. However with that sorted the food and service was extremely good. Views from the top were amazing.

Highly recommend well worth the money from the hotel pick up to the return journey everything ran smoothly. The staff were amazing in the restaurant and the food was excellent not to forget the fabulous view so glad we did it ! .
