We had a nice day. It was refreshing to see and hear about the city in a different way. Our lunch spot was very good. Our Guide was good.

Excellent tour and guide. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Great tour of the castle and surrounding area. Very easy to meet up with at the Makers Market where the cruise shuttle dropped us off.

Our tour guide/driver was excellent and extremely knowledgeable having lived all his life in Dunedin. Larnarch’s Tomb, the family history and the Castle were all interesting. Being a fan of architecture we loved Dunedin Train Station. Lunch @ Luna Cafe (NIC) in the hills was very good.

Gregor is a fantastic tour guide! His knowledge and background as a historian adds colorful and amazing insights to the history he shares. The tour itself was even better than the description given and the stop at Luna with its amazing view was the perfect place for lunch. The details he added as he guided us through the Lanarch Castle helped us more fully appreciate the art and architecture of that beautiful structure. We were also appreciative of the fact that he was very careful to stay within the timeline throughout the tour so that we had no worries about making it back to the ship on time. Take this tour. It will be one of the highlights of your trip!

Gregor what's a fantastic guide and I had a marvelous experience. I was treated superbly it would be happy to do another guided Journey with him. The City Sites were amazing and lunch time was a real joy.

Start to finish the best tour ever! Gregor was so accommodating, kind, and knowledgeable. He offered to take us wherever we wanted to go, not knowing we're to go we asked him to lead us on our journey of discovery and he did. A number of times I asked him to stop so I could take photos, he did stop every time I asked. He provided a lot of history and told us little know facts about the places we visited.
I titled the review based on the fact the cruise ships only give you a limited number of tours to choose from, I know this route was the best, best price, best your, best guide.

Exceptional tour that exceeds what's in the description. The lunch venue and food is exceptional - What A View! The history and little know facts provided about the area by your guide makes this a truly wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

My guide had stories to tell. Everywhere we went was a relevant spot in the past and present history of Dunedin. He was able to answer all of my questions and surprised me with his knowledge of the buildings; families and local adventurers.
Lunch was in a cafe with a wonderful view and a great Caesar salad. Lanark Castle was a highlight. I highly recommend this tour.

Had a great day getting shown around Dunedin and hearing about the local history and about the lives of people in Dunedin's past. Was great to be part of a small group tour with much more personal attention.
Jeffery_B, Feb 2025
Tour guide is a great story teller and very knowledgeable about the history of Dunedin. We enjoyed a morning tour around the city, lunch with a spectacular view of the city and bay, and then an information tour of Larnach Castle.
Gina_L, Feb 2025
Professional, knowledgeable and friendly tour guide/driver.
Excellent schedule. There was no rush so that we all had time to take in the views and stories.
The lunch was fantastic. It was like having a Sunday lunch with my friends.

A great tour with a fantastic guide. It included time to climb up Baldwin St. The guide didn't just take us to the various locations he gave us a guided tour inside the castle and the railway station. Highly recommend.

Great experience. Gregor knows his stuff and shares it in a friendly way that makes it fun to travel about with him. He organized a great lunch spot for us with the best view in town. We learned a lot and had a great time.

Great tour! We took it as we had just arrived in Dunedin on a cruise ship. It was a great way to get to know the place, considering the few hours we had. The tour guide was great, and we liked that it was a small group.

I have visited a lot places and been on many tours. I truly think this is the best tour I have ever been on. So much better than a large bus tour.
We feel so fortunate to have experienced this tour and to have had such a remarkable tour guide. Gregor has such a great knowledge and passion for his city. I enjoyed every minute and didn’t want the day to end. Our first stop was to a beautiful cemetery where we saw the resting place and learned the history of the Larnach family. This weaved perfectly with our visit to the Larnach Castle later in the day. Lunch at was at a restaurant off the tourist path called Luna. The food was delicious and the view was spectacular. Gregor called in our orders and our lunch was ready for us when we arrived. Gregor shared so much information and many great stories with such good humour. If you are coming to Dunedin book this tour.

Gregor was AMAZING! It was our first time in Dunedin and he made it all the more special and memorable. His vast knowledge of the history of Dunedin and New Zealand is unmatched and always has answers to all your questions about Dunedin or NZ. Dont let this distract you from all the cool and intriguing stories he tells along the way!! Thank you Gregor! We hope to be back next time around. All the best!

Gregor was a fabulous guide on this city and castle tour. He met us in the terminal building and led our group of 8 to his van which was fully stocked with local historical literature as well as plenty of water. He took us to a cemetery and showed us some of the gravesites of local citizens, including the Larnach family. We had lunch in a beautiful restaurant perched on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the city. We then went to Larnach Castle where he narrated our own personal tour. He was knowledgeable, friendly, personable, and fascinating to listen to. You won't regret going on one of Gregor's tours!

Really enjoyed this tour. Very informative and interesting, with lots of fun facts. Gorgeous town with beautiful scenery. Our guide took us on a wonderful adventure. Huge, event packed day. Highly recommend.

Wonderful day with Gregor. Knowledgeable about all of New Zealand. I purposely looked for someone with a historical back ground and we were delighted with our guide. This was my dad’s bucket list trip and well let’s just say he had a life time list of questions. He kindly answered all of them and we enjoyed our time on the trip. Best guide of the whole cruise ship experience in New Zealand. Best regards, Stephanie

Ann_H, Mar 2024
Gregor is a great guide. He kept us entertained and enlightened about Dunedin for 5 fun hours. Actoss the city, countryside, up to the cadtle and back to the ship every moment was filled with lively stories, gorgeous photo ops and a delicious lunch. I highly recommend Gregor's tour.

Gregor is very knowledgeable about his realm. He has interesting hobbies that translate into a well rounded tour. He was very forthcoming with any information on a wide variety of topics. It was a very intimate tour with a small group and he catered to all requests. The Luna restaurant was amazing and offered beautiful views and I recommend the filo chicken. I’m going to try to replicate it. I would have loved, as an added bonus, a tour of the local brewing company, Speights. I think that would be a welcome addition as they do this on other cities when a delicious beer is made there. Think Amsterdam and the Heineken tour or Dublin with the Guinness tour. Just a thought. Five stars.
R_L, Mar 2024
Gregor was an awesome guide; very nice, knowledgeable and professional. We learned a lot about the Dunedin area, Larnach Castle, and lunch was delicious and the views throughout the day were spectacular. It was a delightful, “small group” tour.
Daniel_F, Mar 2024
Great tour. Guide was very knowledgeable on all topics. Tour included steepest street, cemetery stop for historical perspective, drive down the second steepest street, train station stop, drive through University for architecture, utterly famous lunch and view at Luna restaurant and private tour of castle.
